This beautiful eclectic kitchen brings together the class and simplistic feel of mid century modern with the comfort and natural elements of the farmhouse style. The white cabinets, tile and countertops make the perfect backdrop for the pops of color from the beams, brass hardware and black metal fixtures and cabinet frames.

The master bedroom focuses on maximizing the contact with the surrounding wilderness. Large french doors allow direct access to the sprawling forest beyond while allowing plenty of fresh air to circulate throughout the day.

We used a very linear, classical plan with open piers in lieu of walls and exposed wood beams to create a bright sophisticated interior. The interior incorporates stained, wide-plank flooring, wood storefront (glass stile + rail) doors, barn doors, simple modern and weathered tile, stained, traditionally-finished cabinetry, wood beams, custom lighting, and incorporates the client’s art, collected during their world travels.

This remodeled kitchen blends classic detailing with fresh, livable finishes. Custom white perimeter cabinetry pairs with a deep gray island, adding contrast and depth without overwhelming the space. Warm wood flooring and exposed ceiling beams introduce architectural character and balance the crisp cabinetry palette. Large marble-look countertops provide generous prep and gathering space, while statement black lantern pendants add modern structure above the island. Brass hardware warms the cabinetry, and a streamlined range wall with marble backsplash creates a clean focal point. The layout supports both entertaining and daily family use, with a secondary island and adjacent dining area creating an easy flow between cooking, conversation, and connection.

Homeowner used reclaimed beams as support columns and to add a wow factor to this foyer area. Exposed wood ceiling with beams creates a feeling of Old New Orleans luxury.

The first thing people notice about my kitchen is the gorgeous reclaimed beams on the ceiling. Ironically, they were not part of the original plans, but were added to cover up a mistake. When the final plans arrived, the architect had added a cased opening to the breakfast room and a column that would have come down at the end of the kitchen peninsula. I was adamant that the column would ruin the look of the room, so Ridgewater Homes (my builder) worked with me to add a large ceiling beam for support. They were then able to remove the column from the plans. The builder covered the structurally necessary beam with rustic reclaimed wood, then added the smaller beams across the ceiling of the kitchen to make it look planned.

Below Buchanan is a basement renovation that feels as light and welcoming as one of our outdoor living spaces. The project is full of unique details, custom woodworking, built-in storage, and gorgeous fixtures. Custom carpentry is everywhere, from the built-in storage cabinets and molding to the private booth, the bar cabinetry, and the fireplace lounge. Creating this bright, airy atmosphere was no small challenge, considering the lack of natural light and spatial restrictions. A color pallet of white opened up the space with wood, leather, and brass accents bringing warmth and balance. The finished basement features three primary spaces: the bar and lounge, a home gym, and a bathroom, as well as additional storage space. As seen in the before image, a double row of support pillars runs through the center of the space dictating the long, narrow design of the bar and lounge. Building a custom dining area with booth seating was a clever way to save space. The booth is built into the dividing wall, nestled between the support beams. The same is true for the built-in storage cabinet. It utilizes a space between the support pillars that would otherwise have been wasted. The small details are as significant as the larger ones in this design. The built-in storage and bar cabinetry are all finished with brass handle pulls, to match the light fixtures, faucets, and bar shelving. White marble counters for the bar, bathroom, and dining table bring a hint of Hollywood glamour. White brick appears in the fireplace and back bar. To keep the space feeling as lofty as possible, the exposed ceilings are painted black with segments of drop ceilings accented by a wide wood molding, a nod to the appearance of exposed beams. Every detail is thoughtfully chosen right down from the cable railing on the staircase to the wood paneling behind the booth, and wrapping the bar.
