The kitchen, breakfast room and family room are all open to one another. The kitchen has a large twelve foot island topped with Calacatta marble and features a roll-out kneading table, and room to seat the whole family. The sunlight breakfast room opens onto the patio which has a built-in barbeque, and both bar top seating and a built in bench for outdoor dining. The large family room features a cozy fireplace, TV media, and a large built-in bookcase. The adjoining craft room is separated by a set of pocket french doors; where the kids can be visible from the family room as they do their homework.

Carriage doors open to reveal a wealth of extra space in the garage, including an area custom built to accommodate a collection of bicycles hanging from the ceiling.

Kids' room - coastal kids' room idea in Boston

The chaise lounge chairs are on powder-coated aluminum frames with Batylene mesh outdoor technical fabric. The two club chairs are an all-weather wicker intricately hand woven in a checkerboard pattern. The palms that flank the tanning ledge are integrated into the pool surround. This outdoor summer kitchen is made of antique cypress exterior. The door and hood panels are hand-made with 2" planks surrounded by a 3/4" raised applied mold with an inlaid poplar bark frame. The interior material is an exterior grade plywood, and the hood has extra interior structure to mount to the owners ceiling.

A new porch was added to extend the outdoor seasons in Michigan. Heated stone floors, and retractable screens along with an outdoor kitchen make for a very livable space. We used the same colors inside and outside for a visual extension of the design. A large fireplace infinity spa and extra teak seating are in the background.
