Thse clients came to me for a kitchen refresh. Keeping the existing floor plan but updating as much as possible. After explaining my thoughts, they chose to go with a much larger project. The wall to the garage wash pushed bach 12" to allow for the island to happen. This almost couldn't happen as there is a support post in the garage we had to keep. I designed the last pantry area as on 10" deep, allowing us to conceal that behind the cabinets. Then, we opend up the wall to the dining room to make the rooms one large space. The wall to the family room was also openend up, leaving the half wall to allow for the kitchen eating area. They wanted to incorporate a bar area, without it feeling like a "bar" The fabulous tall custom unit houses their wine collection and then half of the dining room buffet area holds glassware and other bar items. I helped the clients with all of the design choices.We all wanted to keep the space classic, war, functional and with mixed materials. I chose to use the same countertop material for the backsplash, to keep the space feeling as large as possible.

In this Venice space we used a simple pine shelf with Ikea brackets and added dental trim to the face of the shelf. A track was added and our Janice McCarty made mid century composed wood object pendants were placed in front. the wood tones all match including the fabulous minka air fan.

Creating a space with plenty of white comes with challenges, one being effective lighting. The combination of stark white and the vibrant artwork really sets the focus to the fabulous collection. The challange was finding the right recessed lighting for this project. Color temperature, light output, heat output and directional lighting were all necessary considerations when planning the lighting for this residence. Along with TDesign we worked to design, specify and deliver a recessed lighting plan that impressed the client.

There are so many beautiful elements in this recently completed home, but we can't take our eyes off of the kitchen!! Especially because it has a 5 1/2' Galley and a clean up sink to contain the mess, among other fabulous appliances including an induction cooktop, the Wolf Convection Steam Oven, and more. This was a collaboration spanning a few years. The Client had already remodeled the spaces by the time I came in to furnish and finesse. They took a generic ranch style home and modernized it for their lifestyle. The asks were for cool, collected, color, and nothing "off the shelf".
