A calm and contemporary bedroom designed with a focus on comfort, balance, and understated luxury. The soft colour palette, warm wood elements, refined textures, and carefully selected furnishings create a relaxed atmosphere while keeping the space elegant and functional. Every detail has been thoughtfully planned to make the bedroom feel inviting, comfortable, and timeless.

Neutral color palette: Soft whites, warm beige, taupe, and natural wood tones create a calm and airy atmosphere.
Wood-paneled tray ceiling: The light wood ceiling adds warmth and architectural interest, while the recessed tray detail gives the room height and elegance.
Modern ceiling fan: A sculptural three-blade fan adds a sleek contemporary touch.
Large windows and natural light: Tall windows and open doorways flood the space with sunlight and connect the interior to the lush greenery outside.
Clean-lined furniture: The low-profile sofa and large square coffee table emphasize simplicity and comfort.
Layered textures: Upholstered seating, woven textiles, rugs, and decorative pillows soften the modern lines and make the space feel inviting.
Minimal decor: The striped abstract artwork introduces subtle color without overwhelming the neutral scheme.
Indoor-outdoor connection: The view of tropical landscaping and the open adjoining spaces reinforce a relaxed luxury-home aesthetic.
Built-in bar area: The blue-gray built-in cabinetry with glass shelving adds sophistication and a subtle contrast to the otherwise light palette.

Created for a client seeking a true lock-and-leave space beneath their daughter’s home, this colourful basement suite brings personality, comfort, and function together in a thoughtful way. Designed to feel distinct from a traditional lower-level suite, the space offers a unique style that immediately feels inviting and memorable. Green tones play a defining role throughout the suite, bringing energy and character to the interiors while complementing the detailed finishes layered throughout the home. Every element was considered to create a space that feels both practical and special, with a design approach that reflects the client’s desire for something with individuality and charm. The result is a suite that balances independence with warmth, offering a beautifully detailed retreat that the client can truly enjoy and love.

The redesign’s focus was on refining the space’s look and functionality. The design was tired, and didn’t feel very warm. The couple wanted a warmer and more refined space to relax and entertain guests. Getting to know their style, we focused on a piece of existing artwork Shelly really liked. We drew inspiration from its Provence, France or similar Tuscan feel. The color palette led us in the right direction towards transforming the space.
The flooring was replaced with new ceramic tile with blue and warm orange tones. Wall colors tie in, with a dominant green-blue paint color and accents of brown.
Our clients had the existing built-in cabinets replaced with a more streamlined cabinet design, and a warmer quality. Although the couple did declutter much of what was there before, there is plenty of usable storage, kept behind closed doors. We helped with the selection of rich, dark Corian countertops.
The same counters are in the bar area as well, and this part of the room was particularly enhanced for entertaining. The barstools we selected bring color and warmth to the area, and the dark brown paint accent on the ceiling helps define the space. A reflective glass backsplash with copper tones adds a touch of drama. That and a metal piece of artwork we found tie the brown and copper metal tones together, and blend nicely with the barstools.
The alcove near the entrance was set apart with a soft brown accent color, and we custom-designed a floral arrangement with Shelly’s request for yellow flowers. The vase is a nod to their love of wine and the Tuscan feel.
For furniture, we aimed to lighten the overall weight of the space. The new theater-seating recliner sofa selected by our clients could have weighed down the space, if careful attention was not paid to the room’s balance. With that in mind, we added an armless slipper chair, upholstered in lighter, textured fabric, and an ottoman upholstered in a subtle green. We had a custom area rug designed to anchor the furniture arrangement and make the seating feel cozy.
The custom valance – an upholstered cornice board – offers more color, pattern and visual interest. Shelly fell in love with its fabric, and it works well to tie the colors of the space together. Hunter Douglas shades adjustable by remote are simple and practical.
The design of this lower level space is timeless, and has a simplicity and warmth that feels inviting. The balance of masculine and feminine touches suits them both. It’s a much more refined space for a new phase in life.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth.
Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone
Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close.
Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel
Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602
Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Windows: Bloomberg is the manufacturer
the hardware is from Restoration hardware--Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron.
Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata.
Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark.
