"Command Central" in kitchen with corkboard on the back of the cabinet door, a quad outlet and ample shelving to neatly file and store incoming mail and family papers

Amy didn’t feel her office reflected her personality or style, or coordinated with the other updates made on the main floor of her home. She wanted an office that was pretty, felt inviting and comfortable for her to do office work, read or knit. She also wanted to provide seating for others to relax in the room with her and areas to display family photos, décor and house electronics. Painted in a subtle yet beautiful blush color, new life was breathed into the room. A desk and file cabinet with accents of antiqued mirrors added sparkle to the work area. A cozy desk chair, custom lounge chairs and an ottoman created with feminine fabrics provided comfortable seating. The matching bookcases hid unsightly electronics and cords and provided a landing place for treasured photos. The walls were adorned with a tapestry and framed art to add colors and textures, with the seating area grounded by a silver rug. The room was completed with florals to add that soft organic element to tie in the beautiful gardens that surround the home.

The "drop zone" is ideal for phone charging, mail organization, and filing, keeping clutter off kitchen counters.

I decided to introduce rich espresso stained cabinetry and the crown molding detail brought it together. The cabinetry doors have a leather front inlay. The cabinetry is packed with function. We added file cabinets under the bench seat, an awning appliance garage for electronics, and we doubled his storage from his previous furniture. I chose Acacia Walnut Floors to complement the wood style and meet up with the maple hardwood floors just outside the door. Sutter Photographers 2014 CotY Award - Entire House Under $250,000 -The home office area is perfect for the homeowner to work from home or keep track of family activities. -The bench is on wheels, which allows her to meet with clients or give small group presentations. -Filing cabinets are hidden within the moveable bench. -The desk top can be extended by lifting the side panel and securing it in place. This was in response to the height of the existing window interfering with the size of the desk. -The original baseboards and casings were removed and labeled. They were reinstalled where possible after new flooring was in place. -The new door on the laundry room has a magnetic blackboard on one side to attach artwork, to-do lists, or photographs. -A small closet was installed with several electrical outlets and a docking center for cell phones and other electronic devices (right of laundry room door, not seen in photograph).
