This home brew pub invites friends to gather around and taste the latest concoction. I happily tried Pumpkin when there last. The homeowners wanted warm and friendly finishes, and loved the more industrial style.

This Boerum Hill, Brooklyn backyard features an ipe deck, knotty cedar fencing, artificial turf, a cedar pergola with corrugated metal roof, stepping stones, and loose Mexican beach stones. The contemporary outdoor furniture is from Restoration Hardware. Plantings are a lush mix of grasses, cherry trees, bamboo, roses, trumpet vines, variegated irises, hydrangeas, and sky pencil hollies.

This is an example of a mid-sized modern full sun backyard driveway in Austin for spring.

We had the awesome opportunity to complete this 8ft Western Red Cedar board-on-board privacy fence that included metal gate frames with industrial hinges and 2x6 single stage trim cap. We used exterior rated GRK screws for 100% of the installation, not a single nail on the entire project. The project also included demolition and removal of a failed retaining wall followed by the form up and pouring of a new 24” tall concrete retaining wall. As always we are grateful for the opportunity to work with amazing clients who allow us to turn ideas into reality. The previous year Finesse, Inc. remodeled this home in Monrovia and created the 9-lite window at the entry of the home. After experiencing some intense weather we were called back to build this new entry way. The entry consists of 1/3 covered area and 2/3 area exposed to allow some light to come in. Fabricated using square steel posts and beams with galvanized hangers and Redwood lumber. A steel cap was placed at the front of the entry to really make this Modern home complete. The client wanted patio space for a chair so she could relax in the sun when the mood struck. The only spot in the yard with any sun is near the fence gate. A full-range New York Bluestone patio was added using 30” x 30” slabs. These slabs are dry-set so leveling was a challenge.

This custom-built metal fencing project was designed to combine security, durability, and refined curb appeal. The installation features a double swing electric driveway gate and an 8-foot metal walk-through gate, providing both convenient access and enhanced functionality. Stone columns and a matching stone wall are integrated throughout the metal fencing, adding texture, contrast, and architectural interest. A stamped concrete driveway complements the overall design while delivering long-lasting performance. The landscape was completed with a low-maintenance approach, including a rock garden, concrete zero-maintenance planters, and faux grass in both the front and backyard. Together, these elements create a cohesive, visually striking property with modern style and minimal upkeep.

The front of the house features an open porch, a common feature in the neighborhood. Stairs leading up to it are tucked behind one of a pair of brick walls. The brick was installed with raked (recessed) horizontal joints which soften the overall scale of the walls. The clerestory windows topping the taller of the brick walls bring light into the foyer and a large closet without sacrificing privacy. The living room windows feature a slight tint which provides a greater sense of privacy during the day without having to draw the drapes. An overhang lined on its underside in stained cedar leads to the entry door which again is hidden by one of the brick walls.
