Lots of cottage dwellers enjoy time spent with family and friends in their vacation home year-round, surrounded by the vibrant colours of autumn and the peaceful environment characteristic of the Muskoka region. ⠀ ⠀ This unique cottage kitchen is full of character and ready to host a large family gathering at any time of the year. It tastefully weaves together heavy, dramatic, industrial design, with warm, welcoming farmhouse ambience. For example, admire the way the dramatic black countertops and distressed black cabinetry are beautifully off-set by a large, white farmhouse sink, and tasteful accent open shelving on one wall. Note the many windows letting in natural light, and the airy feeling given off by the decorative "X" beams on the end of the island overlapping with a spacious breakfast bar. And who isn't charmed by the crate-style storage of staples like onions and potatoes?⠀

Home was designed to be a formal house but was now being used as a weekend retreat. Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house. AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color. The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay. This modern, contemporary, glossy, underwater resin on wood panel is layered with aqua, aquamarine, Aruba blue pigments, white epoxy paste, and hints of sparkle. A cool toned color palette was used to create this multi-layered dimensional seascape.

Existing dining gets updated look with new lacquered walls above existing wainscot. Inspired by the seaside, this classic, coastal living room features shades of blue & white, a white slipcovered sofa and chair, a weathered wicker trunk used as a coffee table, and furniture & accessories that create a room that is both soothing and stylish. Summerland Homes & Gardens

A farm sink and tin backsplash combine with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops to create a modern twist on a rustic kitchen remodel. The island countertop, beams, trim and open shelving were custom made from reclaimed wood. We installed a beadboard ceiling, custom cabinetry with beaded glass, mason jar lighting and created custom niches for extra storage. New floors, new paint and updated everything in this now open and airy and completely custom Sams Brothers design.
