The soothing primary bath provides a respite from the homeowners' busy lives. The expansive vanity mirror highlights the room's tall ceilings, while the soft colors provide a relaxing atmosphere. Gold wall sconces, hardware and faucets are beautifully showcased against the rooms greige cabinetry. The shower is located in a separate bathroom alcove, allowing for privacy. The "his and her" shower boasts two shower heads, hand-held shower wands, a rain shower, a built-in quartz bench and two shower niches. A shower window allows natural light to flood the elegant space.

Capped with white marble countertops, a rich blue vanity with faux bamboo detailing is the centerpiece of this bejeweled powder room. Gold detailing abounds from the hand painted ceiling to the gleaming faucet and cabinet hardware. Continuing the gold theme, a pair of antiqued brass sconces flank an elegant Venetian mirror. A glass beaded light fixture sparkles from above, illuminating the shimmering metallics of the aqua tree patterned wallpaper while a rug in shades of deep teal covers the walnut stained floor. The goal of this remodel's design began with the homeowners dream to restore her cherished 1908 home to its vintage glory, updating it with Art Deco inspired touches while maintaining its original character and charm. In the kitchen; marble counters, unlacquered brass hardware, vintage mirrors, and a library ladder were used to accomplish the old meets new aesthetic. A custom hood with hand painted gold detail and a Lacanche French range are centerpieces of this timeless black and white kitchen. The show stopping powder room off the kitchen is a bright pop of color featuring Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon print wallpaper, vintage swan faucet, and a turquoise Cyan Design chandelier installed on the metallic gold ceiling. The goal was to create a dramatic, glamorous dining room and blend the client's modern taste with the traditional chest they inherited and the traditional style of home. To meld the chest into the room, we pulled the gold accents and added gold in the wallpaper panels, the frames around the wallpaper panels and on the dramatic ceiling. The table top is custom made from a reclaimed oak floor. The chairs are vintage with new upholstery and black paint.

When a couple with young children decided to purchase their first Manhattan apartment, they called in designer Christopher Maya to create something livable and contemporary.
