Beautiful updates to dated spaces. We updated the master bathrooms and 2 guest bathrooms with beautiful custom vanities with recessed fronts. The beautiful gray finish works wonderfully with the Carrara marble and white subway tile. We created recessed soap niches in the guest bathrooms and a deluxe recessed niche with shelves in the master bathroom. The lovely gray and white palate gives a fresh calming feeling to these spaces. Now the client has the bathrooms of their dreams.

Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine! This whimsy guest bedroom suite encompasses all things sailing! An ode to lake life, custom sail boat drapery adorns the windows while a vintage sail boat lithograph art piece hangs above the iron bed. Red stripe bedding with blue and tab pillows pop on the crisp white bed sheets while a vintage quilt hangs off the bed. The wall sconces allow for more room on the navy blue wicker side tables and the room is anchored by a beautiful, cozy navy and cream striped rug.

Making the Most of a Small Footprint We maximized the room’s small footprint by designing a custom built-in bed, nightstands, and desk. We then added visual interest and sound dampening with the acoustic slat walls. The end result is a guest suite as beautiful and luxurious as the finest hotels. The clients requested professional assistance transforming this small, jumbled room with lots of angles into an efficient home office and occasional guest bedroom for visiting family. Framed by a pocket door leading to the shower, this guest bathroom showcases transitional-traditional elegance with distinctive details. A gray custom vanity with raised panel cabinetry sits within a built-in vanity niche, featuring silver accents, an undermount sink, and marble countertops. A wall-mounted mirror is set against a striking mosaic tile accent wall, while mirrored cabinets add both function and sophistication. The marble floors are laid in a classic herringbone pattern, adding texture and visual interest beneath. When a world class sailing champion approached us to design a Newport home for his family, with lodging for his sailing crew, we set out to create a clean, light-filled modern home that would integrate with the natural surroundings of the waterfront property, and respect the character of the historic district. Our approach was to make the marine landscape an integral feature throughout the home. One hundred eighty degree views of the ocean from the top floors are the result of the pinwheel massing. The home is designed as an extension of the curvilinear approach to the property through the woods and reflects the gentle undulating waterline of the adjacent saltwater marsh. Floodplain regulations dictated that the primary occupied spaces be located significantly above grade; accordingly, we designed the first and second floors on a stone “plinth” above a walk-out basement with ample storage for sailing equipment. The curved stone base slopes to grade and houses the shallow entry stair, while the same stone clads the interior’s vertical core to the roof, along which the wood, glass and stainless steel stair ascends to the upper level. One critical programmatic requirement was enough sleeping space for the sailing crew, and informal party spaces for the end of race-day gatherings. The private master suite is situated on one side of the public central volume, giving the homeowners views of approaching visitors. A “bedroom bar,” designed to accommodate a full house of guests, emerges from the other side of the central volume, and serves as a backdrop for the infinity pool and the cove beyond. Also essential to the design process was ecological sensitivity and stewardship. The wetlands of the adjacent saltwater marsh were designed to be restored; an extensive geo-thermal heating and cooling system was implemented; low carbon footprint materials and permeable surfaces were used where possible. Native and non-invasive plant species were utilized in the landscape. The abundance of windows and glass railings maximize views of the landscape, and, in deference to the adjacent bird sanctuary, bird-friendly glazing was used throughout. This guest shower pairs soft gray subway tile with a frameless glass enclosure, a built-in marble bench, and a patterned niche that adds subtle detail. The clean palette and tailored finishes give the space a crisp, polished look that feels both fresh and timeless.

Drawing inspiration from artist Josef Albers, Oh Joy! managed to create a guest bathroom that’s a work of art itself. 4x4 glossy Glass Tile in Snowy Owl, Warbler, Kingfisher, and Magpie are arranged in an abstract striped and color-blocked pattern with a polka-dot floor of custom Handpainted Fallow Tile flowing from the shower throughout this one-of-a-kind bathroom guests won’t soon forget.
