I started my search for a contractor about a year before I hired Paul to do a kitchen and bathroom renovation. This was my first time at the bat, and I really had no idea what to expect. I had many contractor proposals that swung wildly in price but for some reason I never felt inclined to hire any of the guys I met with. I happened to be looking at Houzz one day and came across Paul’s company and he had very good reviews. I gave him a call and he came to my apartment quickly. I liked him immediately when we met. I thought it was strange that he asked me for my budget and how much I wanted to spend but in hindsight, providing that information allowed Paul to come back to me with a very detailed proposal based on my budget. I soon realized that the lower proposals I had did not include many of the budget items that would be necessary to complete the job. Paul laid out the pricing and provided a very reasonable “allowance” based on your measurements for tile, toilet, sinks, etc. It is up to you to stay within that allowance.

Another reason I hired Paul was because of his design skills. Paul met me in the at tile stores several times and helped guide me in choosing tile and a style for the bathroom that really looks beautiful. I fought him a little but in the end, was glad I went with his recommendations. He also uses a kitchen cabinet maker so all the cabinets are custom to what you want. Paul also has a great customer website that allows you to see all the expenses, make choices, and easily communicate with him.
If you are planning to do a renovation, I think it helps to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I live in a co-op and we had a couple of little glitches and Paul was always quick to resolve issues as they arose. He was extremely responsive and really cared about the work and doing a good job. I would definitely hire Paul again if I needed a contractor.

The island was made with one seamless piece of granite. it took five guys to carry it in. Including the owner of the Fab shop. All hands on deck. Jason Hoffman

This was a typical small galley Baltimore, Maryland row home kitchen. The main thing that homeowners were looking to due is to get maximum storage, and make the room feel bigger. We went with Showplace cabinets, a line that fit the home owners budget, in a painted white finish. To match the time frame the the homes were built, but give it a modern feel, we went with a Concord f/o door style. The countertops were a 3cm thick granite called Brown Fantasy with a half bullnose edge. The sink was an AS103 "D" shaped stainless steel undermount sink. The appliances were bought when they first bought the house and they went with the GE Artisan Collection. These appliance have the through back look of the late 50's for when the home was built. To also help make the room feel larger we used 48" high double entry cabinet with a 2 pc crown so the cabinets went up to the tall ceiling. To make the kitchen to feel more open the homeowners wanted to put a passthru to the dining room and seating on the dining room side of the passtru. The cabinets were installed by Dave Iwanike of Excel Building Solutions - Photo credits Ric Guy

"We took bids from seven or eight companies to remodel our kitchen and bathroom. We had a whole list of improvements we wanted, from 'must-haves' to 'might be nice someday'. We selected TaylorPro Home Services for several reasons, but foremost among those reasons was that the owner, Kerry Taylor, provided us with a detailed breakout of labor/material costs for every option. Nearly every other contractor bundled up the costs of our optional tasks into a single number, which made it quite difficult to select the best options based on our priorities and budget. Kerry's highly detailed proposal wasn't the least expensive we received, but it was organized, thorough, and competitive.
The second reason we selected TaylorPro was the demeanor and experience of Kerry himself. It was refreshing to talk to someone who actually gets his hands dirty rather than yet another designer with his head in a computer. (God bless the designers, though -- we had helpful conversations with many!) Kerry has a good design aesthetic, make no mistake, but it was clear that when problems inevitably popped up, Kerry would know how to address them. He is calm, personable, and competent. In other words, he is just the sort of person you want to work with.
We can't forget to mention the TaylorPro crew. The first thing you notice is how youthful they are. Not a single gray hair among them. Yet after watching them work awhile, you begin to notice how extraordinarily skilful they are. It doesn't matter what is on the day's agenda -- electrical, paint, plumbing, drywall -- these guys tackle it all and do it exceedingly well. They aren't just putting in their time and collecting a check. They take terrific pride in the work they do, a quality that seems more and more difficult to find these days. They are pleasant to be around and I never heard a cross word among them. They took pains to keep the noise and dust to a minimum. They cleaned up at the end of every day, even those days when they put in extra hours and were obviously very tired. This is easily the best work crew we've ever had at our house.
We should also mention that the subcontractors that TaylorPro uses are top-notch. The folks who laid down our new tile floor (Jeff) had every bit as much expertise and integrity as TaylorPro. They did an excellent job on both the flooring and the tile backsplash. These two elements receive compliments from everyone who visits our remodeled kitchen. (We wish Jeff would put his company on Angie's List so that we could give him the recognition he deserves!) In addition, the fellows who fabricated our Caesarstone countertop were also great craftsmen. They did a beautiful job. When we noticed a small blemish a few days after the countertop was installed, they came out immediately and corrected the problem. Nice!
In summary, TaylorPro has lived up to all the glowing recommendations here on Angie's List. Our experience with TaylorPro is right in line with the others. They stayed on task, they communicated well, they stayed on budget, and they gave us more than we had any right to expect. We don't know a better compliment to give Kerry and company than this: when it comes time to remodel the upstairs bathrooms, we won't need to solicit seven or eight bids. We'll just call TaylorPro. "

As we start to notice the vibrant colors of spring beginning to peek through last week’s snowstorm, it’s the perfect time to unveil one of our recent primary bath renovations. Led by Project Manager, Steve Shanholtz, and Designers, Justina Auer and Sarah Domery, this project was a collaborative effort from start to finish. Our clients came to us with their flooring tile already selected, serving as the catalyst for our creative vision. It’s hard to find the centerpiece of this space, as so many aspects of the room elicit a “Wow!” reaction. With a palette of lush greens and crisp whites, this renovation is a testament to the beauty of renewal and rejuvenation. The Cambria Clifton countertop seamlessly carries the essence of green throughout the space with tiny pops of a bold black hardware adding to the sophistication of this modern bath – a striking choice against the pristine white cabinetry. Practicality meets elegance in the shower with the use of Onyx walls, chosen for their easy maintenance without compromising on style. A thoughtful rearrangement of the sink allowed for the addition of a linen cabinet, providing ample storage for towels and bath essentials. We are so proud of the impeccable work by our guys in the field, especially our lead carpenter on this project, Brian Halme. As we usher in the season of renewal, there’s no better time to breathe new life into your home. Give us a call so we can transform your space into a sanctuary of style and comfort!

This curved window sunroom we made for our client David E. in Downtown Los Angeles, California was our most challenging and proudest project yet. We had to perfectly design a never-before-attempted template to remove the ugly grids his older, aluminum window frames had made. His majestic view of Los Angeles was replaced by 16 ugly aluminum windows which were deteriorating right before his eyes. His exact comments were, "Thank you for reminding me why I moved in here and purchased this home in the first place. You guys gave me my view back." We could not be happier.

This rustic living room showcases a near complete Manomin interior. Reclaimed wood ceiling paneling and matching box beams cover the full vaulted ceiling in warm honey and caramel tones, blending seamlessly for a cohesive and immersive look. Hand Hewn Timber trusses follow the roofline, reclaimed timber posts frame the kitchen transition, and a reclaimed wood fireplace mantel glows amber above the stone surround.
The warm honey to caramel palette across every wood surface creates a whole room material story that feels intentional and complete. At Manomin Resawn Timbers, every piece goes through a detailed process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling so that antique character is preserved while performing beautifully in a modern home.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, or a homeowner looking for a coordinated reclaimed wood package for a living room or great room, Manomin Resawn Timbers has been helping people discover the antique charm of reclaimed wood since 2002.
