The nursery pictured in this article was the bedroom of this family’s first child, a girl, which we had previously designed for her in 2015, and with a few changes, is now the nursery for her little brother. The wall coverings, light fixture, glider chair, and other furnishings all carried over from first to second, girl to boy. To update the room, we selected new drapery, in a fun, animal pattern, by Katie Ridder (via Holland and Cherry) and a beautiful high-quality wool rug from STARK, in a blue stripe that may stay relevant until college. This high-rise condominium at The Mayfair longed for the renewal conceptualized in its 3 bathrooms. Each was a complete renovation, adding relevant aesthetic updates and much-needed functionality and storage. We capitalized on the immense amount of natural light in the primary bath and we amplified it throughout the space by opening up walls to the shower, lining the vanity with full-sized, built-in vanity mirrors, and distributing electrified lighting throughout. Custom cabinetry was designed to capture every inch of usable perimeter space and incorporate the elevated tub platform. The guest bath emulates a classic, luxury hotel feel infused with color, a great tile pattern on the focal shower wall, a furniture-style vanity, and a fun floor design. The powder bath is dark and moody with textural wallpaper and an espresso-colored porcelain floor tile emulating marble. All of the appointments throughout exude the luxury look and feel the client desired, are maintenance friendly and will stand the test of time.

Here are some practical tips for creating a beautiful, comfortable and thoughtful living room design. The living room in the house is the place where, as the name suggests, receives guests. However, the owners themselves relax here, spending time in front of the TV or a book, with drinks, pleasant conversation and other activities. Therefore, the living room should be the most comfortable place in your home. The place of the sofa in the design of the living room The sofa does not need to be placed in a draft. This means that it should not be on an imaginary line from window to door - if you drew a floor plan, it will just be easy to trace. 1. The sofa in front of the TV, diagonally from the door, is a great location. As if inviting you to sit down :) 2. Sofa near the door. A good solution if you often have overnight guests. 3. Corner sofa in the living room. Best placed in the farthest corner from the door. This will make the room look more spacious. Correct opening of the door in the living room. Inward or outward? Open inward or outward? There is no clear rule here, because everything depends on the layout and on the furniture placed. The main thing is that the door leaf opens freely and does not interfere with entering and exiting the room. Also, the door should not interfere with free access to the closet or dressing room. An adjacent area originally displaced was incorporated into the kitchen by removing a few walls to tie it in to the new space. Transformed into an attractive dinette bar, the complex task of incorporating stairs in the kitchen was successfully accomplished with a beautiful custom designed stainless steel and glass railing and a quaint bench seat. A cluttered closet was transformed into a functional walk in pantry just around the corner. Jurs took advantage of fourteen-foot ceilings by stacking beautiful maple cabinetry over eight feet high around the perimeter of the kitchen. Elegant glass doors with frosted glass lit from behind wrap the entire kitchen for a dramatic effect in the evening. The island was custom designed to suit the specific needs of the cook. Standard height work surfaces were created on either side of the island for food prep and chopping on two Sipo Mahogany wood tops. The center island of Cambrian honed black granite was set at 37 ½” high, perfectly suited for a tall cook! The large curved breakfast bar easily accommodates groups of kids, as well as guests and family during entertaining. New floors tie the entire living space together with White Ash Hardwood and a granite looking Porcelain tile from Italy. Full height granite backsplashes add depth, while situated on dramatic Crema Bordeaux granite counter tops that boast colors of the Grand Canyon. Frameless, wide style Shaker doors and Stainless Steel accents emphasize the warm, yet simple contemporary nature of this beautiful new space.
