This kitchen was a complete gut renovation. The 1970s home layout was slightly modified to offer a more open floor plan to this young family. Regularly hosting friends and family in their home, the design features a large island with seating, as well as plenty of room between the main wall and the island for easy movement when there are multiple chefs in the kitchen! The cabinets are from Scavolini in three colors and finishes; the base units and oven and refrigerator units are in a textured decor door in humus oak, the uppers in light grey glossy lacquer flank the stainless steel chimney hood. The elegant pop of color is on the pantry wall of full height larder units in matte tempered glass in baltic blue. Dark gray textured stone is used as the counter tops and run up the back splash for a clean look. Up-cycled pendants in bright white are used over the island. Photo by Martin Vecchio.

Faced with extensive water damage to their home, the Patel’s turned to Cantoni designer Andrea Petor to infuse new life into their family’s beloved weekend retreat in Montgomery, Texas. Balancing the client’s minimalist wants with their love of hosting, Andrea created a cohesive design to accommodate their frequent guests and large extended family. Beginning with the kitchen remodel, Andrea worked with the Patel’s to identify the best layout for the space, understanding it would be used regularly for entertaining. To maximize storage space, Andrea designed custom floor to ceiling cabinetry finished in high gloss white lacquer. She selected Miele optic white appliances to enhance the sleek design. Andrea had a custom dining table built into the island to provide ample seating and ensure the entire family could enjoy meals together. The kitchen’s monochromatic color palette was carried throughout the interiors allowing the home’s beautiful waterfront views to take center stage. Adding richness and texture to each room, Andrea selected sculptural, modern furnishings to complete the space and bring the Patel’s vision to life.

"Dramatically positioned along Pelican Crest's prized front row, this Newport Coast House presents a refreshing modern aesthetic rarely available in the community. A comprehensive $6M renovation completed in December 2017 appointed the home with an assortment of sophisticated design elements, including white oak & travertine flooring, light fixtures & chandeliers by Apparatus & Ladies & Gentlemen, & SubZero appliances throughout. The home's unique orientation offers the region's best view perspective, encompassing the ocean, Catalina Island, Harbor, city lights, Palos Verdes, Pelican Hill Golf Course, & crashing waves. The eminently liveable floorplan spans 3 levels and is host to 5 bedroom suites, open social spaces, home office (possible 6th bedroom) with views & balcony, temperature-controlled wine and cigar room, home spa with heated floors, a steam room, and quick-fill tub, home gym, & chic master suite with frameless, stand-alone shower, his & hers closets, & sprawling ocean views. The rear yard is an entertainer's paradise with infinity-edge pool & spa, fireplace, built-in BBQ, putting green, lawn, and covered outdoor dining area. An 8-car subterranean garage & fully integrated Savant system complete this one of-a-kind residence. Residents of Pelican Crest enjoy 24/7 guard-gated patrolled security, swim, tennis & playground amenities of the Newport Coast Community Center & close proximity to the pristine beaches, world-class shopping & dining, & John Wayne Airport." via Cain Group / Pacific Sotheby's International Realty Photo: Sam Frost

A common theme throughout this home is the blended indoor/outdoor spaces and the outdoor kitchen is no different! Aside from the multi-panel slider that fully opens up, the dining table is the only thing that stands between the expansive main indoor kitchen and this beautiful outdoor kitchen, designed specifically for the clients who regularly host events. This outdoor space is spread out along the side of the house allowing for one side’s main function to be for cooking, complete with a professional outdoor grill and pizza oven, while the other side acts as a bar for entertaining with prep station and central island seating. The homeowners are able to enjoy this incredible space year round with the help up retractable screens and outdoor heaters to keep it cozy during those cooler months.
