As New England's premier custom glass design firm, we were proud to bring this stunning orangery addition to life for a Carlisle, Massachusetts family we’ve worked with on two other occasions. Orangeries, historically designed for cultivating citrus trees, have evolved into luxurious glass-enclosed spaces offering year-round natural light and connection to the outdoors. This custom orangery demonstrates Sunspace Design's mastery of blending the classic style with modern amenities. Over two years of meticulous planning culminated in the results you see here. Drawn to our local reputation and in-house design and fabrication capabilities, the clients collaborated closely with us to realize their vision. Spanning an impressive 14' x 22'6", the orangery brings an air of grandeur to the rear of the colonial-style home while complementing the existing architecture. The centerpiece is the custom hip-style glass roof, outfitted with insulated safety glass, framed in rich sapele mahogany, and adorned with copper glazing, flashing, and capping. Blue reflective glass set in the roof creates a captivating interplay of light throughout the day and contributes to the space’s lasting elegance. The roof line is set in from the walls to create a perimeter soffit on the interior, typical of orangeries. Custom wet bar cabinetry, crown moldings, and tilework complete the orangery, reflecting the family's discerning taste and creating an excellent spot for entertaining. Our role as general contractor, our design expertise, and our fabrication abilities ensured this project's seamless execution. From engineered CAD drawings to the intricate roof assembly, the Sunspace commitment to quality is evident in the finished result. This space is much more than an addition; it's become the heart of the family’s home, where joyous holiday gatherings are hosted, and a touch of luxury is brought to everyday living.

Rebecca McAlpinAn American couple with a large extended family were regular visitors to Bermuda and actively seeking a Bermuda home when they found Castle Point. Well known for its prominent Castle Folly overlooking Castle Harbour, the property featured an abandoned main house, a guest cottage, ancillary buildings, and an excavated lot. It had become overgrown and had seen little maintenance since the mid-1980s. Their dream was to work with architects to design a flexible retreat—one that could be intimate when it was just the two of them, but also functional for hosting the entire family and guests. OBMI was challenged to enhance the property and its poetic yet rugged beauty. Only two of the eight acres were available for residential development, requiring careful analysis of our options. We designed a three-bedroom main house, two guest cottages, and a caretaker’s cottage that remained sympathetic to the surrounding landscape and left habitat for native birds and other species. The aesthetic follows classic Bermudian architecture using local materials and maximizing the legendary views.

Perfectly embedded on an acre of land overlooking a pond, in the heart of Willow Bend of Plano, this dated, traditional home got more than a complete facelift. The wife is a “farmer’s daughter” and could have never imagined having a home like this to call her own one day. Finding a 15’ dining table was a tall task… especially for a family of four. Using a local craftsman, the most gorgeous white oak table was created to host everyone in the neighborhood! The clients told a lot of stories about their past and children. The designer realized that the stories were actually treasures as she incorporated their memories and symbols in every room. She brought these memories to life in a custom artwork collage above the family room mantel. From a tractor representing the grandfather, to the Russian alphabet portraying the roots of their adopted sons and some Cambodian script, there were meanings behind each piece. In order to bring nature indoors, the designer decided to demo the exterior wall to the patio to add a large folding door and blew out the wall dividing the formal dining room and breakfast room so there would be a clear sight through to the outdoors. Throughout the home, each family member was thought of. The fabrics and finishes had to withstand small boys, who were extremely active. The use of outdoor fabrics and beautiful scratch proof finishes were incorporated in every space – bring on the hotwheels.

We used kid-friendly furnishings with performance fabrics that are durable and easy to clean. Prioritized eco-friendly selections, utilizing locally sourced + American made pieces.

This was a much needed and long overdue remodel of the lodge for a local chapter of an internationally recognized organization. I was brought in during the demo phase of the build out to work with the building committee on the overall aesthetic which included space planning, finishes, fixtures, furniture and lighting throughout the space. The kitchen area has two cooking stations, two sinks and tons of prep area, as well as an eat-in bar. The wet bar is located near the lounge area and the dining area, with high top cafe style tables, can also be used for overflow at the lounge. The cafe tables can be lined up together to create one long dramatic dining table when needed for events. This all lends itself to the space being quite versatile, which works well for the various events hosted at the lodge.

This residential green roof and ground level garden was designed with the client’s specific lifestyle in mind. The client had long dreamed of being able to look out her bedroom window into a life-filled rooftop scene with flowering native plants and grasses frequented by local birds, butterflies and bees. A biodiverse, native plant filled ground level garden was also a high priority. K. Dakin Design made this dream a reality, selecting climate adapted plantings that would appeal to these wildlife visitors, benefitting the homeowner, the regional ecosystem and the pollinators themselves.

Set just feet from the bay, family and friends now enjoy waterside views while lounging by this multi-tiered poolscape, outfitted with a hot tub, three water falls and an expansive outdoor dining area. On one end of the design, a verdant landscape balances the layout with exotic pops of colors and soft local trees and shrubberies. These blend seamlessly into the winding patio, fortified with Techo Blog Aberdeen in soft tans and grays. Cobblestone Techo Bloc Antica and 6X9 Hera stone borders the uniquely designed pool, sculpted to fit with the natural curve of the property. Accented at the head of the pool sits a large natural stone diving board. Above All Masonry designers created a space that supports ease and flow from the home to the patio by adding a raised stone seating area right at the backdoor. Guests then move along toward the pool's edge, enjoying ample poolside seating space that looks over the stone-stacked water falls and nearby bay. By incorporating the existent beauty of the space, this poolscape design communicates natural luxury and calm.

This 17' by almost 18' addition with all of the amenities was the perfect space for this local homeowners crafting business! She uses it to host craft classes.

Industrial transitional English style kitchen. The addition and remodeling were designed to keep the outdoors inside. Replaced the uppers and prioritized windows connected to key parts of the backyard and having open shelvings with walnut and brass details. Custom dark cabinets made locally. Designed to maximize the storage and performance of a growing family and host big gatherings. The large island was a key goal of the homeowners with the abundant seating and the custom booth opposite to the range area. The booth was custom built to match the client's favorite dinner spot. In addition, we created a more New England style mudroom in connection with the patio. And also a full pantry with a coffee station and pocket doors.

This cozy kitchen remodel nestled in one of Greensboro's great neighborhoods, Friendly Arces, offers a clean and inviting atmosphere perfect for relaxing or hosting intimate get togethers. Cabinets in this local kitchen remodel by US Cabinet Depot provided a great balance of affordability and quailty within the space and allows ease and comfort within.

The River Oaks Show House is a part of the American Society of Interior Designers’ local chapter annual event, where Houston’s top interior designers collaborate with host builders to exquisite properties like this three-story home. The kitchen was in the process of being finished when I became involved with the show house. I was thrilled to design the finishing touches of the space that brings families together - the kitchen! The space encompasses a luxurious and sophisticated look. Generally, when designing, I like to put accent colors in the chairs, flowers, drapery, and chandeliers, while keeping larger fixtures such as cabinets, flooring and paint more neutral.

A few years ago, I had an art exhibit at The Francis hotel, which hosts rotating shows of local Maine artists. It's a truly gorgeous hotel in a perfect location - I highly recommend a stay at The Francis if you are visiting Portland, Maine. These Hanover, MA clients came to Renovisions as they wanted a local design-build company to rework and expand their small and outdated 1980’s colonial kitchen. We collaborated and created an expanded 12’x15’ addition space to accommodate a newly designed kitchen which is now 21’x15’. Before we began with the construction process, proper structural engineering presented a challenge as the property was built on ledge. As expected, we determined that several concrete supports were necessary and needed to be built to support the expanded structure. Our plan included both creative aesthetic and functional layout modifications to transform this ordinary kitchen into a spacious, well-lit, highly functional, stylish and welcoming space to cook, gather and entertain. The bump-out allowed for more functional cabinetry and a dining table which before was placed in a corner of the previous cramped kitchen. Now, there is a wide open space from the adjacent living room and a clear path to a 5’ French door opening to the pool deck. The homeowners also elected for us to extend a new roof over their existing deck creating a nice shaded space to entertain guests. The island, which serves as the central gathering spot. is eye catching with contrasting dark cocoa colored cabinets and stunning natural looking Cambria quartz countertops. Large, easily accessible deep drawers provide much needed storage for pots, pans and lids as well as expansive countertop space for everyday prep and family get-togethers. Overall, the clients were thrilled with their Renovision and cannot wait to throw a party to show off their stunning kitchen. “There is not a single choice we aren’t happy with; it is so us!
