This client's young son was overrun with a Nerf gun arsenal so large it threatened a takeover of his bedroom! Instead of retreat, fortifications were built to hold his massive armory with style. Slat wall with hooks hold several guns and storage bins for foam ammo. Open shelving showcases prized pieces. And extra large drawers and cabinets keep countless others stored away. Preparations were made for the future as well, with plenty of counter space for homework and study. With its masculine finish in Grey and Midnight Black, this unique system will bolster him through boyhood battles and beyond. He may outgrow Nerf guns, but he'll never outgrow this!

The option to downsize was not an option for the empty nesters who have lived in this home for over twenty-five years. Situated in TMR, the sprawling home has been the venue for many social events, dinner parties and family celebrations. With grown children living abroad, and grand children on the way, it was important that the new kitchen be highly functional and conducive to hosting informal, yet large family gatherings.
The kitchen had been relocated to the garage in the late eighties during a large renovation and was looking tired. Eight foot concrete ceilings meant the new materials and design had to create the illusion of height and light. White lacquered doors and integrated fridge panels extend to the ceiling and cast a bright reflection into the room. The teak dining table and chairs were the only elements to preserve from the old kitchen, and influenced the direction of materials to be incorporated into the new design. The island and selected lower cabinetry are made of butternut and oiled in a matte finish that relates to the teak dining set. Oversized tiles on the heated floors resemble soft concrete.
The mandate for the second floor included the overhaul of the master ensuite, to create his and hers closets, and a library. Walls were relocated and the floor plan reconfigured to create a luxurious ensuite of dramatic proportions. A walk-in shower, partitioned toilet area, and 18’ vanity are among many details that add visual interest and comfort.
Minimal white oak panels wrap around from the bedroom into the ensuite, and integrate two full-height pocket doors in the same material.

Gather around! The square island gives ample room for guests to sit and converse while the hosts do meal prep. Curved wood grids on the upper cabinets and angled hood vent add a personal touch to this stylish kitchen. Photo by Jim Krueger, LandMark 2019

This beautifully appointed cottage is a peaceful refuge for a busy couple. From hosting family to offering a home away from home for Navy Midshipmen, this home is inviting, relaxing and comfortable. To meet their needs and those of their guests, the home owner’s request of us was to provide window treatments that would be functional while softening each room. In the bedrooms, this was achieved with traversing draperies and operable roman shades. Roman shades complete the office and also provide privacy in the kitchen. Plantation shutters softly filter the light while providing privacy in the living room.

This 15,000 square foot home is a ground up classic Mediterranean Villa in Los Altos Hills, designed with a nod to a more elevated contemporary interior design. Our client is a High Level VC who hoped to limit time away from his young family. The scope of the project was to design a family-friendly home, while including all of the high style and high-tech amenities and conveniences expected in a Silicon Valley estate. Designing with these requirements in mind, our team created functional spaces for family life while maintaining business requirements in one space. This balance between comfort and professionalism was implemented through masterful layout and design including a private gathering room that can host up to 100 guests, which was intentionally designed to entertain business meetings, lessening the need for travel, and allowing for a more balanced lifestyle. Other features include a Screening Room, Bar and Wine Tasting Area, Private Library and Executive office, and Grand Dining Room.

This expansive first floor takes luxury to the next level. A once dreary and dark kitchen, lacking in function, takes on a new look. Natural light floods through the kitchen with wall-to-wall windows, highlighting the gorgeous wood texture from the rift sawn white oak and walnut inset cabinets. A french La Corneau range provides a beautiful focal point, paired with layered designer lighting and various stones.
A host’s dream space for entertaining with a hidden pantry, fully stocked with a chefs sink, dishwasher, and wall oven with ample storage for dry goods and small appliances.
A morning brew or 5'oclock cocktail can be found in the fully loaded wet bar stocked with an integrated espresso maker, ice maker, refrigerator, freezer, wine cooler, and spirits collected from traveling the globe. Cheers!

The focus of this stairway and kitchen renovation was to take a very blocked off, disjointed living area and transform it into a lively space perfect for entertaining. The staircase was once blocking the living area from the kitchen, but now serves as a structural centerpiece and it completely opens up the room. The kitchen offers a contemporary, yet colorful feeling with the addition of these beautiful cement tiles and clean kitchen cabinets. The best feature of this space is the toe kick drawers, allowing for easy and convenient kitchen storage — the perfect space for hosting a party.

For this screened porch in Westport, Connecticut, Caroline Kopp chose a large trestle table which echoes the beadboard ceiling. Steel side chairs, softened by woven host chairs and blue pillows, provide a comfortable place for guests to sit. Teak lanterns and potted ferns beautify the table which has an antique boat lantern hanging over it.
