Our instructions from the client were to "create a fiercely modern, all-white kitchen, but with humanity." Working within a ten by fifteen foot space that was originally dark, cramped and inefficient, we created a new kitchen which is bright, open, and highly efficient for cooking. While no walls were moved, the openings to adjacent spaces were relocated and resized, further expanding the appearance of the space. This lovely contemporary living showcases custom cabinets and shelves designed with Pennville Custom Cabinetry, American Leather Nash chaise sofa, custom Rug from Samad Rugs and beautiful wall finish by Faux Time Design. This room needed to provide ample seating for family gatherings as well as relaxed reading or TV viewing for stay at home days. The space is open to both the kitchen as well as a hallway in this split level design home. A soffit was built to bring the angled ceiling to human proportions while niches where created to high light the custom cabinets and shelves.

This home was re-designed in Scandinavian style. The make over from Transitional to Scandinavian was a wonderful transformation and a whole lot of joy for me to work on. We changed the colors of the space to earthy, soft and calming tones. We changed patterns from bold, pronounced to soothing and a few. We used gentle modern lines on our metals. To please the 2 resident kitties with softness of the textures and keep the human residents free of worry about the claw nags, we chose soft (indeed), but not loopy (of course) for all to enjoy. We added quite a bit of greenery to the space, a touch of modern, black and white accents, a whole lots of love and voila! Satisfaction at its finest! But the most satisfying feeling is my client’s love of their newly designed space. That is the best compliment a designer longs for!
