This wine cellar holds 500 bottles in the 100 square foot climate controlled enclosure. It is fitted with its own HVAC system which holds a constant temperature and humidity level year round. The display panels were all custom fabricated for the space and assembled on site. You have a great view of the stunning display from the 12 foot solid slab bar. The bar houses a dishwasher, a 2-drawer refrigerator /freezer combo with ice maker, as well as some storage cabinets. The waterfall top is an absolute black granite with a honed finish. All of the cabinetry as well as the display panels were sprayed onsite. This is the conversation piece of the party!

This beautiful kitchen has a lot to boast about! The teak countertop, the big farmhouse sink, and the contrasting island color combine to make a beautiful workspace. The cabinets are from Medallion's platinum line which basically means the doors are inset. The door style i s Bayshore. The main kitchen is the Divinity finish, the island is done in the Marine finish.
Inset doors are not on Mike's go-to list as any change in humidity may result in subtle swelling or shrinking of the doors resulting in a place where the door rubs off the finish as it opens or where the gap between the door and frame increases. If you're good with that wearing, then it is indeed a beautiful look!

This contemporary bathroom features a tub/shower combo: perfect for providing the homeowner with options. But with windows in range of water from the shower head, no ordinary window treatment would fit this home. Polywood shutters by Sunburst Shutters & Window Fashions are the best treatment for this bathroom. Whereas most window treatments would be destroyed in a setting like this, Polywood can take the water and humidity without issue. Polywood shutters are completely waterproof, yet look and feel like real wood. They are a perfect solution for bathrooms, kitchens or any room in your home.

Moss Garden: A Living Carpet of Tranquility
A moss garden is a serene, low-maintenance landscape feature that evokes a profound sense of calm and natural beauty. Composed of vibrant, velvety mosses that thrive in shaded, humid environments, these gardens offer a soft, carpet-like groundcover that replaces traditional lawns or gravel with rich, green texture.
At Westland Design, our moss gardens are thoughtfully integrated into the overall landscape to enhance a feeling of timelessness and stillness. Whether nestled beneath the canopy of trees, edging a stone pathway, or surrounding a tranquil water feature, moss brings subtle movement and color to quiet corners of the garden.
Key qualities of a moss garden include:
Evergreen softness: Moss provides lush, year-round greenery that requires no mowing or fertilizing.
Quiet beauty: It absorbs sound, contributing to a peaceful, contemplative environment.
Natural elegance: Ideal for Japanese-style gardens or woodland settings, moss complements stone, water, and wood elements with organic harmony.
A moss garden is more than a design choice—it’s an invitation to slow down, observe closely, and appreciate nature’s quiet elegance.

A tasting lounge in this lovely home in Austin, Texas is the perfect place to entertain friends or enjoy a quiet evening alone. The space is comfortable and inviting with a 700-bottle wine cellar as the main focal point. The insulated glass enclosure, treated walls, and ceiling ensure the wines are kept at the optimal temperature and humidity for storage and long-term aging. The mechanical and cooling system is fully self-contained and out of sight. The metal, matte black wine racks are striking against the white marble walls. The label forward, 3-deep display wine racks maximize the use of the space and one row of angled racking are perfect for larger format bottles. This tasting lounge is not only inviting but the perfect balance for form and function.

A fresh take on mid-century modern, highlights in the family room of this modern prairie-style home are the double-sliding doors and the floor-to-ceiling ston fireplace. The ribbon transom windows offer a glimpse of the beautiful timber ceilings on the patio while accenting the ribbon fireplace. In the corner is a built-in bookshelf with glass shelving that brings a brilliant burst of blue into the space. The humidity and temperature-controlled wine cellar is protected by a glass enclosure and echoes the timber throughout the home.

The customized space utilizes the iconic Nek Rite and Wine Wall series. A custom-made solid walnut cabinet that houses a dedicated hygrometer, circulating humidity into the space, compliments the modern hardware. Illuminating this exquisite space is a finely cut piece of backlit Jade Onyx.

INSPIRATION: local settlements in northern Iran formed by a simple adaptation of the nature, geography and climate of that region. The local architecture of this place is so intertwined with nature and in harmony with the climate that it can be called naturalistic architecture. We are looking to redefining the region's former architecture, which needs protection, into today's language.
Unique properties: Extroverted architecture is a solution that is necessary to respond to the hot and humid climate of the location of this project. But in Iranian culture, introverted architecture is unavoidable therefore, in this residential apartment where several families live together and also have common spaces, providing a response to introversion and extroversion at the same time has been considered.
Description: Extreme use of the porch refers to the deep structures of the Iranian Architecture The "primitive cottage", which is a favorite of the residents of this small town, when converted into a contemporary apartment, must include several basic spaces to implement the residential scenario. Private and semi-private balconies are the most important of those spaces. Extensive vista is the potential of this project. because in addition to the forest view from the south and the beach view on the north side, the other two sides of the project have a unique view due to their height from the city.
Therefore, the location and type of openings affect the quality of the space. Each space has a pleasant view, light and proper air circulation. Roofed and non-roofed yards equally divided at different levels. These independent courtyards in the vertical surfaces seen as a vertical and integrated garden in the urban context.
CHALENGE: The value that the project pursues is to answer: How contemporary architecture can be faithful to culture, nature and context? How architecture can affect the audience without showing off?
this challenge arose for us when we noticed that the surrounding new buildings had nothing to do with local architecture except for adhering to a form such as a sloping roof. Audience tastes have also gone in a direction that is not compatible with contextual factors. So having a few touches of culture and context can be a turning point in the contemporary architecture of this Small scale area.

Original doors - grain as not particularly inspiring like the grain in the kitchen. The plywood was not stable and kept moving with humidity changes.
I would have been tempted to replace the wood with similar but the company that sold it to me assured me they have never carried it. A little frustrating since the cabinet guy I was working with had not ordered what I needed plus 25% as I requested.

The backside of a Whisperkool XLT wine cellar cooling Texas unit, as seen from the adjacent room. This system is ideal for residential wine cellars, as it maintains the ideal wine storage temperature and humidity levels.
Without an efficient cooling unit, there will be extreme changes in the storage conditions, which may result in wine spoilage. WhisperKOOL's products have many features that make them a favorite choice in wine room construction.

The Pierre Guest Suite. This is a recessed panel door. Painted MDF. It looks like a wood door in every way. Except it will not crack or expand in the humidity. Highly recommend going with a 5 piece painted MDF door if you want a painted finish and doors that will last.

This wine cellar is a long way from Tuscany but respect for proper wine storage is definitely here. This humidity control room boasts rack storage for 350 bottles plus under counter refrigeration for white wines.
