ROMAN BATH: "PAN" &" VENUS FOUNTAIN"
"Pan" &" Venus fountain" painted Trompe L'Oeil over the pool in gym room private residence.
This wide room is bisected by stone arched columns, which act as a natural separation between the pool and gym. Three sides of this room are window walls, overlook a private garden and allow bright, natural light in at all hours of the day. There is a door leading out to steps down to the garden.
In tribute to the room's original purpose, the fourth wall, which previously served as the outside wall of the house, has a painted ornamental pattern running along the entire wall; it is a likeness to the preserved stained-glass frames of the veranda that used to be there. The section of the wall above the pool imitates the walls of roman baths, with two Trompe L'oeil niches depicting statues of Venus' Fountain and of Pan. The statue of Pan is particularly relevant to this home; when the artist suggested the design, it turned out that the owner of the home, now a doctor, used to be a composer and wrote an opera named after the Greek god.

This 1890 rowhouse had been renovated over time, most recently in the 70s. Our clients wanted to renovate every floor. The floors and walls were out of level, and most of the systems were old. We gutted the structure to the studs, leveled and reframed the walls and floors, added insulation and updated the plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Once the structural and systems work was complete, our crew installed a new expanded kitchen, updated all the bathrooms, and updated the basement.
Reconfiguring the first floor plan involved taking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create one large entertaining space. To bring more natural light and provide sight lines from the front to the back of the rowhouse, we added new windows to the back wall and moved the opening to the other side as a full-light door.
Kitchen features include:
• Cabinetry that extends to the ceiling to maximize storage
• Large island with seating for four
• Painting that imitates the pattern of the ceiling we uncovered during the renovation
• Buffet cabinetry in the dining room with a built-in wine cooler

This landscaping project was inspired by our Borealis slab. The look of hardwood flooring is now available outdoors with this wood look-a-like patio slab made of concrete. The Borealis paving slab is available in 5” and 10” wide slabs. These patio stones are being called trompe-l’oeils by industry professionals; it will have you guessing whether it’s hardwood or concrete. Borealis looks and feels like wood planks, is offered in three alluring colors and most importantly, it's maintenance-free. That means no deck staining, wood-treating or wood-rotting, ever. Whether it’s your poolside, front porch, backyard deck, or patio, Borealis brings the appealing esthetics of natural wood to your backyard in a weather-proof, maintenance-free way.

Our Minneapolis homeowners love their 1928 home, which is why they chose to continue making it their own into their new stage of retirement and to fit their new lifestyle.. With the new journey ahead they desired to update their home to fit their lifestyle.
In this particular room, it was important for our homeowners to update their upper level guest bathroom to imitate and incorporate classic tiles that could be found in a bathroom built during the homes original era. Italian Carrera tiles combined with gray toned one-inch tiles create contrast beside the Benjanmin Moore's Rock Gray color distributed on the walls. The simple and classic look of a DXV Wyatt console sink adds a fashionable feel to this space, as well as immediate shelving below.

This is a photo of the guest quarters roof which also houses a bedroom for the main house. The roofing is imitation slate. All of the stone is 3/4" veneer. We had the corner stones pre cut into "L" shapes so that it appears as if a full solid stone corner. All of the brick is reclaimed brick which was cut down to 3/4" thickness. The brick had to be be sealed because it is very porous. The copper collectors are not functional but are quite charming. The cornice work is stucco shaped profiles.
