This was an incredible patio home remodel we completed in the Fall of 2013. The original interior was straight from the early 1980s. We brought the property every luxury of a 21st century kitchen - slow close drawer glides, farmhouse sink, panel-front dishwasher and refrigerator, beaded inset cabinets, island with eat-in barstools....the list goes on. Every room on the first floor was transformed with newly installed hardwood floors, crown molding, and fresh paint. The two-sided fireplace was refaced on either side as well as given brand new molding, mantles, and recessed lighting. An alder wood bookshelf was installed in the dining room. The master bath received a full-size laundry closet (in lieu of the former laundry closet which was in the kitchen where we now have a built-in and TV!). We expanded the shower to give room for a seat. The original vanity was ripped out and replaced with custom-built vanities, new lighting, mirrors, etc. Every inch of this patio home has been elevated! Decorá Custom cabinetry was chosen, in an Inset door style. A custom paint color was used, to match the existing Sherwin Williams ‘Alabaster’ millwork. The appliances are perfectly built in to custom-sized units for a seamless and flush appearance. The reverse-arch island includes cleverly angled cabinets, and a built-in microwave. The Butler’s Pantry has abundant storage, including drawers, display areas, and a wine shelf. Balancing the Butler’s Pantry, the range top area also features glass door cabinets, as well as abundant drawers, and hidden storage. It’s the details that make this kitchen such a showstopper! 9 foot ceilings allow for 12” of stacked crown molding through the whole kitchen. Classic bead board wraps the island, and serves to complete the Butler’s Pantry. The wine shelf includes a simple arch valance, an element that is repeated in the arched furniture base and the arch countertop supports. Mullion glass doors are an eye-catching addition. The cabinets are topped off with classic marble countertops, keeping the fresh light feeling; with a solid Walnut bar top as the stunning centerpiece. The Herringbone pattern of the backsplash tile offers subtle interest. Brushed nickel Finial hinges add a vintage look to the cabinets, as do the new light fixtures. The end result is an incredible transformation!

This new home, perched on an incredible river overlook surrounded by nature, evokes a sense of balance between contemporary design and classical massing. A white-painted brick exterior perfectly frames large-format, black fenestration. Two-story, monumental windows bring the natural world into bedrooms above and living spaces below. The scale of each opening creates compositional tension within the silhouette of a simple gable roof. Inside, the angled entry sequence flows into a multi-faceted, vaulted living area filled with wonderful interior and exterior connections. River views take precedence on all floors, including the luxurious office space on the lower level. While moving from the living room to the spacious screen porch or glassy dining area, the focus on the valley beyond remains unbroken. The Koehler nightstand is a simple but really fun design. The drawer was intentionally created to not need any hardware so the piece could have a clean feel to them. The drawer front has a finger pull built into the top channel. The drawers are outfitted with a lovely soft close slide that is concealed from sight and is always a pleasure to open and close. Underneath the drawer is a nice space for books and decor. The nightstands are built out of solid maple wood. After construction, it and was primed and painted with a multitude of coats of paint and top coats to give it a beautifully smooth and durable finish. The joinery attaching the box is all floating mortise and tenon joinery which will ensure that the desk outlives anyone reading this website in my lifetime. We had a lot of fun building these nightstands along with the and the matching Koehler desk but were incredibly busy and didn't end up having an opportunity to take any in progress photos of these pieces. If we build another of these we will be sure to take some photos and share how this piece comes together. Delivering the Koehler nightstands to this bedroom hardly even felt like work...the view of the Pacific ocean and San Diego skyline was something to behold.

This project involved remodeling the main floor living areas as well as the lower level family room. We updated the spaces by adding new wood flooring, lighting, paint, window treatments and new custom furniture. We created a functional lower level fit for a family movie night or game time. A large (and incredibly comfortable) leather sofa with custom ottoman wrapped in commercial fabric allow for the space to be used by grand kids of all ages. In addition, we transformed the owner’s bath suite into a luxe retreat, complete with an inviting soaking tub with a floor-mounted tub spout that makes you feel like you’re next to a waterfall. This 1980’s bathroom has been replaced with a modern, crisp aesthetic featuring white wood cabinets set against soft neutral gray walls, contemporary brushed nickel finishes, and beautiful LVP plank flooring in warm wood tones. The clean, simple lines throughout give this bath a spa-like feel. Even the mirrors were cleverly designed to set into the wall to maximize their function as medicine cabinets. This is the perfect place to indulge and relax right in the comfort of home.

This incredible Homes By Us showhome is a classic beauty. The large oak kitchen boasts a waterfall island, and a beautiful hoodfan with custom quartz backsplash and ledge. The living room has a sense of grandeur with high ceilings and an oak panelled fireplace. A black and glass screen detail give the office a sense of separation while still being part of the open concept. The stair handrail seems simple, but was a custom design with turned tapered spindles to give an organic softness to the home. The bedrooms are all unique. The girls room is especially fun with the “lets go girls!” sign, and has an eclectic fun styling throughout. The cozy and dramatic theatre room in the basement is a great place for any family to watch a movie. A central space for entertaining at the basement bar makes this basement an entertaining dream.
