THEME Created for a baby girl, this room is magical, feminine and very pink. FOCUS The eye-catching size and detail of the Carriage Crib, with a dainty canopy held in place by woodland creatures immediately catches a visitor’s attention, and is enhanced by the piece’s fascinating colors and textures. A handsome Dutch door with a minientrance just for her ensures that this princess feels at home as soon as she steps in the room. STORAGE The room has closet organizers for everyday items, and cubicle storage is beautifully hidden behind the wall letter blocks. GROWTH As the room’s occupant grows from baby to toddler to child and ‘tween, the room is easily transformed with age-appropriate toys, pictures, bedding and fabrics. The crib portion of the carriage can be removed and fitted with a larger mattress, saving both time and money in the future. Letter blocks are easily updated by simply removing the letters and replacing them with mirrors, colors or other images. Theology of the Design - The Design Elements and Their Meanings Significant thought went into the redesign of the physical attributes and safety of this reconstructed font. The real importance of the design is found in the placement and use of the materials and colors: 1. The bronze statue of Christ occupies a commanding position atop the upper font, gazing through the skylight towards heaven above. 2. A gradient blend of glass tile mosaics originates with a blend of blacks & grays and transforms to a blend of yellows – signifying baptism in Christ's name is leaving one's sinful past behind (blacks/grays) and beginning and dawn of a new life (sunrise/yellows). 3. The upper bowl (cube) is a blend of whites and opalescent pearls... infants that are baptized here are free of mortal sin (purity/white). 4. A smattering of 24 karat gold mosaic tiles spill from the statue of the ascending Christ, over the spill way & cascades out onto the floor of the lower font.... Christ is the source of our everlasting life. 5. The black/gray entry step contains a few yellow tiles... because there is a little good in everyone, no matter how sinful they may be. 6. A singular gold mosaic tile is on the yellow exit step... Christ will forever be with those who are baptized & walk in his name. 7. The shadows from the hands of the statue of the ascending Christ touch both the black/gray entry step and the yellow exit step... Christ will forever guide those baptized in his name.

Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional wooden u-shaped staircase remodel in New York with painted risers

The decision to either renovate the upper and lower units of a duplex or convert them into a single-family home was a no-brainer. Situated on a quiet street in Montreal, the home was the childhood residence of the homeowner, where many memories were made and relationships formed within the neighbourhood. The prospect of living elsewhere wasn’t an option. A complete overhaul included the re-configuration of three levels to accommodate the dynamic lifestyle of the empty nesters. The potential to create a luminous volume was evident from the onset. With the home backing onto a park, westerly views were exploited by oversized windows and doors. A massive window in the stairwell allows morning sunlight to filter in and create stunning reflections in the open concept living area below. The staircase is an architectural statement combining two styles of steps, with the extended width of the lower staircase creating a destination to read, while making use of an otherwise awkward space. White oak dominates the entire home to create a cohesive and natural context. Clean lines, minimal furnishings and white walls allow the small space to breathe.
