The redesign of our Greenwich, CT project was an incredibly rewarding experience, made even more special by the opportunity to work on a second home for our wonderful clients after completing their Palm Beach residence last summer. This full-service, turnkey transformation was thoughtfully executed from initial concept through final installation, resulting in a home that feels elevated, inviting, and effortlessly luxurious. every detail was carefully designed, sourced, and installed to create a beautifully cohesive and timeless home.

Jules Moore’s reimagined Pueblo-style home in Santa Fe brings in light from the surrounding desert and features eclectic décor from her travels around the world. The New Zealand-native immediately loved where the house was situated – perched on a canyon’s edge – when she initially saw the home. The house required a lot of work: it had been uninhabited for 10 years, and its small windows did little to brighten the space and emphasize the natural landscape. Marvin’s Ultimate collection offered the level of customization Moore needed for her exact vision of the home. Moore also installed the Marvin Skycove in the home’s primary suite. The Skycove created the perfect space for Moore to enjoy watching the sunset and a cozy space for her French bulldog Sake to indulge in generous sunlight. “Marvin was the only team that presented to me different options that were going to work for this home,” said Moore. “I wanted the picture windows, but I needed the classic element to match the colonial wood. The design task was to create a 160 m2 family house, an elegant, light, cheerful home for a young couple. We could already start work from the architectural plans, so they could even initiate some minor modifications to those. Cooking plays an important role in the lives of the customers, so the detailed kitchen utensil requirements were part of the brief. They would also like to have kids in the future, so the goal was to make the kitchen, dining room and living room function as one space, and the dining room extendable. However, a relatively small space was available for this, so the kitchen was given an unusual formal design. With every detail in mind, the most current mechanical and intelligent systems have been integrated into the house: from the unique drying system in the laundry room to the chamber. An interesting solution is the placement of the sinks in one of the bathrooms, their back wall functions as a screen for the shower. In addition, one half of the building is underground, so those solutions have been preferred, which allow more natural light into the interiors (e.g., acid-coated glass and glass bathroom doors have been used in the common wall of the illuminated staircase and bathroom). We were free to walk between styles. So geometric, playful shapes, customer-preferred blue and oak veneered wood surfaces create harmony in the spaces. The walls feature contemporary posters, custom prints and contemporary artwork.

After discovering a flue, we realized that the initial layout of the bathroom needed to be reconfigured. This required a few changes to be made to the existing layout, including relocating the toilet to its intended location, shifting the doorway to the left of the flue, and moving the lavatory. One of the unique features resulting from the flue redesign was the creation of a toilet nook.

Initially designed as a bachelor's Sonoma weekend getaway, The Fan House features glass and steel garage-style doors that take advantage of the verdant 40-acre hilltop property. With the addition of a wife and children, the secondary residence's interiors needed to change. Ann Lowengart Interiors created a family-friendly environment while adhering to the homeowner's preference for streamlined silhouettes. In the open living-dining room, a neutral color palette and contemporary furnishings showcase the modern architecture and stunning views. A separate guest house provides a respite for visiting urban dwellers.

Set in a quiet neighborhood and framed by mature trees, this residence presented a unique opportunity: to thoughtfully evolve a custom mid-century modern home into a space that supports the everyday rhythms of a growing family. With a deep respect for the home’s original architecture, Klopf Architecture reimagined the house to better meet the needs of its owners—introducing functional improvements while preserving the spirit and character of its mid-century roots. The clients approached Klopf Architecture with a clear vision: refresh their home while seamlessly integrating new programmatic elements. Key goals included clarifying and enhancing the entry sequence; connecting the detached garage to the main house with a practical yet architecturally intentional intervention; adding functional spaces such as a mudroom and laundry room; expanding and remodeling the primary suite’s bathroom and closet; and creating a more engaging outdoor space that capitalized on the site’s impressive views, featuring a fire pit and outdoor kitchen. As a couple with distinct yet complementary perspectives—one focused on modern functionality and technology, and the other dedicated to preserving the home’s architectural integrity—their collaboration with Klopf Architecture resulted in a solution that harmonized both ideals. The detached garage sat at a higher elevation than the main house, requiring a solution that ensured architectural and geometric compatibility between the two structures. Rather than create a purely utilitarian link, Klopf Architecture introduced an intentional connection that contributes to the overall architectural language. A notable pinch point in the plan—where differing geometries converged—was treated as a hinge point, turning a potentially awkward juncture into an architectural feature. This area now functions as both a transition and a moment of design interest that unifies the overall plan. The design also addressed the underutilized outdoor area, which was located in a shadowed portion of the site with geometrical limitations. A new connection to the rear deck was created in this same area, making the outdoor space more useful and inviting. Klopf Architecture introduced carefully positioned openings and spatial improvements that forged a strong visual and functional connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The outdoor area now reads as a deliberate extension of the home, embracing natural light and emphasizing the dramatic views. Working through multiple design iterations, Klopf Architecture crafted a solution that preserved the architectural language of the original home while supporting the functional needs of modern life. The garage-to-house connection became more than a passage—it evolved into an architectural moment of transition. A new mudroom and laundry space enhanced convenience without compromising the clean lines of the design. The primary suite was expanded to create a private, serene retreat. The reimagined backyard, complete with fire pit and kitchen, now plays a vital role in the family’s daily routine and social life. This suite features a deep accent wall to ground the room and draw focus to the bed. The bed is by Room & Board; nightstands are Kathy Kuo Home (Modern Grey Faux Shagreen finish). Above the bed, a floating shelf with under-lighting offers nighttime illumination and flexible display. Lighting is from West Elm.
