Two twin beds in an additional guest room are the perfect place for grandkids or friends who have come to visit the lake side cabin. Upholstered striped headboards and a classic oak side table with vintage style sconces keep it simple, clean and very functional.

The expansive common spaces include a 15' long dining table, open kitchen and living room with multiple seating areas. One of our favorite components of this project was the lighting, especially the custom neon chandelier we partnered and designed with a local neon artist. The final design retained the classically beautiful spatial and structural elements of the home while introducing a sleek sophistication. We mixed the two design palettes carefully. For instance, juxtaposing the warm, distressed wood of an original door with the smooth, brightness of non-paneled, maple cabinetry. A cork floor and accent cabinets of white metal add texture while a seated, step-down peninsula and built in bookcase create an open transition from the kitchen proper to an inviting dining space. The island offers additional prep space while reducing clutter with extra storage and offering a convenient place for the drawer microwave. The crackle ceramic tiles in a herringbone pattern over the cooktop create a new rhythm and subtle focal point. The large sink and base, centered over a new 6' window, is extended forward to soften the linear effect of the counters, creating a graceful furniture look.
