In this project, we kept the customer’s existing concrete deck. We installed a top mount coping track and a natural stone nosing in a dove colour was placed over that. We installed a 6’ curved acrylic step. An interlock deck in a darker shade of grey was placed up to the new coping stone to give a contrast. A full print no border liner was installed to give a simple liner around the pool that was not too busy. Photography supplied by Jackson House Photography

The first goal for this client in Chatham was to give them a front walk and entrance that was beautiful and grande. We decided to use natural blue bluestone tiles of random sizes. We integrated a custom cut 6" x 9" bluestone border and ran it continuous throughout. Our second goal was to give them walking access from their driveway to their front door. Because their driveway was considerably lower than the front of their home, we needed to cut in a set of steps through their driveway retaining wall, include a number of turns and bridge the walkways with multiple landings. While doing this, we wanted to keep continuity within the building products of choice. We used real stone veneer to side all walls and stair risers to match what was already on the house. We used 2" thick bluestone caps for all stair treads and retaining wall caps. We installed the matching real stone veneer to the face and sides of the retaining wall. All of the bluestone caps were custom cut to seamlessly round all turns. We are very proud of this finished product. We are also very proud to have had the opportunity to work for this family. What amazing people. #GreatWorkForGreatPeople
As a side note regarding this phase - throughout the construction, numerous local builders stopped at our job to take pictures of our work. #UltimateCompliment #PrimeIsInTheLead

Our homeowner was looking for a garden that she could entertain in, but that was also safe for her young grandson. We built a patio cover for dining, a lounging area with a gas burning firepit, and created a sandy beach play area complete with shells, pebbles, and a hummingbird water spout for making sand castles. Newly planted, these plants still need to grown in. We used pea gravel for the main area, natural washed concrete for the pathways, and Mexican beach pebbles between the concrete pads.

This outdoor living area helped our customer unite the magnificent indoors with their outdoors. There was an original builders cement patio and old rotting picket fence dividing the yard. We were able to design a functional entertainers paradise and give this yard a complete makeover. We helped them gain full functionality while be able to entertain guests for many years to come. The project Features Nicolock paving stone Stone Ridge XL collection for the patio in South bay Blend. The Kitchen and Bar area are also built out of Nicolock in the same South Bay blend. The landscape was spruced up with some planting enhancements, soil amendments and black mulch flower beds.

This 2010 project in the Bridle Path was a full property design and construction job. A circular interlock driveway, water feature, and pops of red throughout the gardens creates an impression from the road. In the back a covered dining space, firepit, pool and lounge deck are elevated from the back of the property. This creates the perfect view onto full grown trees and hides the sports court and putting green below. Both front and back landscapes were designed and built to match the traditional architecture of the house, while maintaining a timeless aesthetic throughout the years.

Creative use of various materials to create a backyard patio in a small space within the City of Toronto.

This 2014 Luxury Home was part of Midwest Home's Tour. David Kopfmann of Yardscapes, was able to lend to the architecture of the home and create some very detailed touches with different styles of stone and plant material. This image is of the front entrance, where David used concrete pavers for the driveway and mortared stone pillars. Plant material was installed to create texture and color. Boulder outcroppings were also used to lend some interest and retaining along the walkway.

Green roofs have become increasingly popular recently, and in some locations have become mandatory, with rooftop plantings reducing energy costs, improving air quality, increasing biodiversity and reducing storm water runoff. One of the easiest methods of creating an instant green roof is to use plastic planter trays pre-filled with growing medium and plants. This 4,600 sq. ft. rooftop terrace on the 8th floor showcases Archatrak porcelain planks in the color Oak and provides breathtaking views from the Washington Monument to the Potomac River. Hickok Cole Architects are responsible for the beautifully designed rooftop. This installation is a beautiful example of interior to exterior paving, as the porcelain planks give a look of seamless continuity as they flow from the interior atrium to the outside rooftop.

This Santa Clara home underwent a complete outdoor remodel, transforming both the front and backyard into a sleek, functional, and visually stunning retreat. The project features a paver driveway made with durable interlocking concrete pavers, creating a clean and modern entrance that enhances curb appeal.
In the backyard, a seamless blend of contemporary landscape design and backyard landscaping maximizes both beauty and usability. A lush synthetic lawn installation provides a low-maintenance green space, while the spacious outdoor living space is perfect for relaxation and entertaining. The thoughtful backyard design incorporates high-quality hardscaping, with carefully placed pavers and defined garden beds that complement the modern aesthetic.
From the stylish driveway to the inviting backyard, this bay area landscape design project balances form and function to create a seamless transition from the front to the backyard.
