This 3D drawing was part of the design package. This couple wanted to make their typical San Francisco backyard into something special. The yard had some nice plants but little useable space or attractive ground treatment. They had built a kidney-shaped planter with block walls as a weekend project a few years back, and they wanted to keep this. We came up with a design that used the kidney-shaped planter as a focal point. We added a lot of useable space with a bi-level concentric circular patio. By constructing the patio on two levels, we were able to keep most of the excavated soil on site instead of bringing it to the landfill. The outer circle consists of interlocking concrete pavers, while the raised inner circle is paved with natural Arizona flagstone. We enhanced the kidney planter by making another circular planter around it from matching wall blocks. The circular tree beds add interest by echoing the circle theme of the yard.

This 2010 project in the Bridle Path was a full property design and construction job. A circular interlock driveway, water feature, and pops of red throughout the gardens creates an impression from the road. In the back a covered dining space, firepit, pool and lounge deck are elevated from the back of the property. This creates the perfect view onto full grown trees and hides the sports court and putting green below. Both front and back landscapes were designed and built to match the traditional architecture of the house, while maintaining a timeless aesthetic throughout the years.

The clients were updating the interior of their home when they hired Pro-Land to start their design. They wanted a contemporary look for their landscape, with a monochromatic colour scheme and dark accents to make a statement. The pool was the feature of the space, which was centered on the house so from the inside looking out, you'd see the bright blue water. Surrounding the pool we created space for an outdoor kitchen, dining, water feature and a deck/lounge space. In this project, we kept the customer’s existing concrete deck. We installed a top mount coping track and a natural stone nosing in a dove colour was placed over that. We installed a 6’ curved acrylic step. An interlock deck in a darker shade of grey was placed up to the new coping stone to give a contrast. This is an example of a large transitional full sun backyard stone water fountain landscape in San Francisco.

The first goal for this client in Chatham was to give them a front walk and entrance that was beautiful and grande. We decided to use natural blue bluestone tiles of random sizes. We integrated a custom cut 6" x 9" bluestone border and ran it continuous throughout. Our second goal was to give them walking access from their driveway to their front door. Because their driveway was considerably lower than the front of their home, we needed to cut in a set of steps through their driveway retaining wall, include a number of turns and bridge the walkways with multiple landings. While doing this, we wanted to keep continuity within the building products of choice. We used real stone veneer to side all walls and stair risers to match what was already on the house. We used 2" thick bluestone caps for all stair treads and retaining wall caps. We installed the matching real stone veneer to the face and sides of the retaining wall. All of the bluestone caps were custom cut to seamlessly round all turns. We are very proud of this finished product. We are also very proud to have had the opportunity to work for this family. This outdoor living area helped our customer unite the magnificent indoors with their outdoors. There was an original builders cement patio and old rotting picket fence dividing the yard. We were able to design a functional entertainers paradise and give this yard a complete makeover. We helped them gain full functionality while be able to entertain guests for many years to come. The project Features Nicolock paving stone Stone Ridge XL collection for the patio in South bay Blend. The Kitchen and Bar area are also built out of Nicolock in the same South Bay blend. The landscape was spruced up with some planting enhancements, soil amendments and black mulch flower beds.
