This Denver home had cracked Certainteed siding that needed to be replaced. The homeowner selected James Hardie Beaded Lap siding with HardieTrim. The white-on-white paint with Sherwin-Williams Duration lends to the traditional farmhouse architecture, and the results are stunning.

Our most recent modern farmhouse in the west Willamette Valley is what dream homes are made of. Named “Starry Night Ranch” by the homeowners, this 3 level, 4 bedroom custom home boasts of over 9,000 square feet of combined living, garage and outdoor spaces. Well versed in the custom home building process, the homeowners spent many hours partnering with both Shan Stassens of Winsome Construction and Buck Bailey Design to add in countless unique features, including a cross hatched cable rail system, a second story window that perfectly frames a view of Mt. Hood and an entryway cut-out to keep a specialty piece of furniture tucked out of the way. From whitewashed shiplap wall coverings to reclaimed wood sliding barn doors to mosaic tile and honed granite, this farmhouse-inspired space achieves a timeless appeal with both classic comfort and modern flair.

Builder: Mike Schaap Builders Photographer: Visbeen Architects, Inc. Strikingly modern, this dramatic design draws inspiration from the Prairie school as well as the “less-is-more” philosophy. With more than 2,500 square feet of living space spread out on three levels and walls of windows throughout, the design makes the most of the view. A contemporary-inspired floor plan revolves round a central living room with a dining, sitting and kitchen area to the left and study/office to the right. The second level is anchored by a central loft living area flanked by a master bedroom and two additional family rooms. The lower level houses a family room, exercise room and two additional bedrooms.

A home built on one of Canada's most beautiful lakes posed a design challenge. The home had originally been built almost directly in opposition to natural light and views to the lake. While most opinions were to tear the existing home down, BLDG Workshop worked closely with the client to recreate the home in a way that opened it up and became more fitting to the site.

At the Mann home here in Houston we did a full baluster swap. All the existing old wooden pickets were removed, making way for our PC6/1 and PC4/1 wrought iron balusters in our Old World Copper powder coated finish. We also installed a new starter step, replaced the caps, handrail, treads, newels, and rosettes with new oak parts stained to match. Finally, we touched up and repainted for a polished finish.
