What a fun project to work on with an artist and her husband. We collaborated to create a unique soft modern kitchen that has hints of mid-century modern details while expanding the clients storage and cooking space. Subtle details that make a bold statement. It was through the clients interviewing process that they choose to go with Signature Designs Kitchen Bath over other large firms because of the personal collaboration connection. We created a curved island that resembles a piano while it maximized there countertop space it left plenty of room for them to entertain many guest in their nook.

We love the contrast in this bright cheery kitchen! The mix of metals and use of black, and grey all provide pattern and texture to the space. The corner range makes an ideal cooking area flanked by the microwave, open shelving and a pull out for oils and spices.

Working on this 1926 frat, I felt like we should be filming an episode of "This Old Frat House". The first room the Smith & Vansant team saw in the mothballed building when we came for the interview was this room. It was in rough condition, but there in rural northern New England was a groin vault! The alumni board had us study the whole house, to see if it was solid enough to save. After a lots of hard work in design and re-building by O'Hara Gercke we were able to keep not just the shell, but the character of this handsome old house. When our photographer Rob Karosis came to shoot glamor shots in the last week of the project this is the first room he entered. He set up his tripod on the spot, to capture the morning sunlight, and the original groin vault. Photo by Rob Karosis
