Control of the interior lighting allows one to set the ambience for reading a book or settling in for the night. . Audio controls allow precise volume adjustments. Automatic shades protect the furnishings from sun damage and works with the Smart Thermostat to keep the environment at the right temperature all-year round. Freezing temperature sensors ensure the heated floor automatically comes on just in case the HVAC lost power or broke down. Contact sensors on the windows and door work with the home weather station to determine if windows/doors need to be closed when raining; not to mention the primary use with the security system to detect unwanted intruders.

The homeowners wanted to put cabinets on the wall to their dining area, adjacent to the kitchen. By using 18" deep cabinets on the bottom, and wall cabinets with glass fronts I added storage and countertop space while not intruding on the dining space. The glass helps the area feel light, and differentiates it from the kitchen.

They say lively conversation is the spice of life. Changing that straight line to convex has several effects, not the least of which is livelier conversation. The shape adds to the circumference, providing more personal space for all seated, while not intruding too much (often not more than eight inches); a gentle curve permits all guests to see each other with a nod of the head. The acrylic-enclosed contemporary bath conveys a roomy and welcoming space despite its small size. Acrylic panels were cut on a CNC router to fit perfectly. The open door flows across the mesquite end grain floors and out into the living room. The mirror over the medicine cabinet slides open so as not to intrude into the space and a humidity sensor triggers the bathroom ventilation automatically to maintain consistent humidity.
