My Reico designer Kelsey was invaluable in this regard and helped me to create the bathroom I had always hoped to have. I am extremely happy and grateful that I went to Reico for my project.” “The biggest design challenge of this space was to maximize the entirety of the bathroom without making it feel overly done. The client had a desire to enlarge the shower, remove the existing jacuzzi and surround, as well as incorporate a soaking tub for relaxation,” said Kelsey. “Because this was a massive space, we wanted to incorporate larger tile for a pop of color and dimension to reel in the openness a bit and draw your eye inward. We offset that dark tile with satin nickel fixtures, light cabinets, and light counter tops. It was a perfect balance of contrast throughout. Designed by Katherine Dashiell of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Annapolis, MD in collaboration with Emory Construction, this coastal transitional inspired project features cabinet designs for the kitchen, bar, powder room, primary bathroom and laundry room. The kitchen design features Merillat Classic Tolani in a Cotton finish on the perimeter kitchen cabinets. For the kitchen island, the cabinets are Merillat Masterpiece Montresano Rustic Alder in a Husk Suede finish. The design also includes a Kohler Whitehaven sink. The bar design features Green Forest Cabinetry in the Park Place door style with a White finish. The powder room bathroom design features Merillat Classic in the Tolani door style in a Nightfall finish. The primary bathroom design features Merillat Masterpiece cabinets in the Turner door style in Rustic Alder with a Husk Suede finish. The laundry room features Green Forest Cabinetry in the Park Place door style with a Spéciale Grey finish. “This was our second project working with Reico. Lauren Hunt from Reico Kitchen and Bath in Charlotte, NC, worked with The Atta Group to design a transitional-inspired kitchen and bar using Masterpiece cabinetry. The kitchen features Masterpiece cabinets in the Martel Evercore doorstyle in a Frost finish on the perimeter. The kitchen island and bar area both features the same doorstyle with a combination of two different finishes, Riverbed and Shortbread. The countertops are Calacatta Macchia Vecchia Sapien Stone Porcelain. The client shared their experience, saying, “I love the range hood and the slatted island decor. Riverbed is a beautiful color in both sun and shade. Lauren’s advice to get samples and lay them out in different lighting was invaluable. She went above and beyond, even coming out in the parking lot on a hot summer day to help us. We truly couldn’t have done this without her. Lauren was always patient and supportive as we made decisions, and she never pressured us. Any future projects we have, we’ll 100% reach out to Lauren. She even welcomed our newborn to the showroom!” Lauren shared, “The clients came with a clear aesthetic vision and plenty of inspiration photos, but they gave me the freedom to recommend and create a space that worked for their growing family while still looking great. We added design details like two-toned dining room cabinets, dark accent shelves in glass towers, an arched valance to match the doorways, and a custom hood that pulls from the island finishes. My favorite element is the slatted accent on the island, which the installers executed perfectly. This renovation was a big project, starting with a blank slate, which can be overwhelming with so many options. But it was incredibly rewarding to work with these clients who had such a creative vision. We really worked together to create a space that met their needs while showcasing their style. Kayla Carter of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Wilmington, NC, collaborated with Adam Aberte to design a traditional-style kitchen featuring Green Forest Cabinetry in the Brookside door style with a Glazed Ivory finish. The space is complemented by Silestone Lusso countertops and Wow Fez White tile. The client shared, “The hardest part of this remodeling project was making decisions. Kayla was key to the success of this project. She was patient, understanding, and always had a positive attitude. Her taste and help with color and design were invaluable. What I love most about my new kitchen is how beautiful and functional it is. With all the new drawer storage and improved accessibility, there are no more dead zones.” Kayla added, “The biggest challenge was working with a small space, so we focused on adding storage, especially with roll-out tray drawers, to make the most of it. This sleek and contemporary Annex consisting of a small but very functional kitchen, Porch, Desk Area, Bedroom and Ensuite, was until recently a double garage, Designed for an older teenager/young man. Besides my years of experience as a Realtor I also had my own construction company for several years. This knowledge of construction is invaluable for my clients that are looking for a home to build or renovate whether for personal use or investment. Here is a taste of some of the work I did that I take great pride in!

I was recently asked to survey an unusual stone floor at a house in in Harrogate comprising of Slate inlaid with Granite. The client advised that it had not been cleaned properly for 20 years and wanted it renovating! It was now definitely overdue a deep clean and professional attention. Fortunately, having worked on these floors for many years I knew I could make a substantial impact and transform its appearance. Fossilized slate is a beautiful stone when cleaned and sealed correctly. The owner confessed they had actually been sealing the floor every two years but without a deep clean first, so they were effectively sealing in the dirt each time. I discussed with them the process I would use to clean and re-seal the floor and we agreed a price to carry to out the work. To remove the layers of old sealer and dirt used a set of Tile Doctor Diamond Burnishing pads. The pads are attached to a rotary floor machine starting with the coarse 400-grit pad which was lubricated with a dilution of Tile Doctor Remove and Go to help strip the floor of dirt and layers of sealer. After rinsing and extracting the soil I worked through the different grades of pads in sequence finishing with the 1500-grit and this time using just water for lubrication. A set of diamond handheld burnishing blocks were then used to clean up the edges and corners where the large 17” pads struggle to reach. This ensures all areas are treated and free of dirt and old sealer. The floor was then rinsed and extracted again to remove the remaining soil. I find a wet vacuum is an invaluable tool for this. The floor was then left to dry out overnight ready for sealing the next day. I returned the next day to seal the floor, first checking with a damp meter that the floor was dry, and the moisture reading was below the acceptable level. These results were fine, so I had a green light to continue and seal the stone. The customer wanted a shine on the floor so rather than apply a satin sealer which I felt wouldn’t adhere to the stone properly I decided to polish the floor further with a the last of the four burnishing pads which is a very fine 3000-grit pad. You don’t need to use a lot of water with this last pad just a small amount sprayed onto the floor using a technique we refer to as a ‘Spray Burnish’. To seal the floor, two coats of Tile Doctor Colour Grow were applied. This is an impregnating matt sealer which intensifies the natural colours of this beautiful stone and provides long lasting durable protection. Even I was impressed with the finished result but more importantly the client was over the moon. To keep the floor looking its best I recommended they use Tile Doctor Stone Soap which is pH neutral. You should always read the label in detail when choosing a floor cleaning product as many are too strong and not recommended for sealed stone surfaces as they will prematurely erode the sealer. The kitchen perimeter and coffee bar cabinets highlight Merillat Classic in the door style Rowan with a Cotton finish. The kitchen island cabinets feature Masterpiece in the Sawyer door style with a Rainfall finish. Additionally, the kitchen includes MSI Q Calacatta Miraggio Duo quartz countertops, a Splendours White 3x12 backsplash and KitchenAid appliances. This very unique kitchen design contains two islands and kitchen on the perimeter of the room. This kitchen was separated into smaller kitchen and eating area that with this new design , we merged into one big kitchen. We also opened up the kitchen to the adjacent living room creating one open concept which greatly contributing to clients desired purpose. We removed the load bearing post that separated the kitchen from eating area as well as the main load bearing wall between the kitchen and living room creating the opening over 10 feet wide. This kitchen also incorporated the dogs crate as the owner is a dog trainer and needed to be a part of this kitchen. The smaller island has waterfalls as well as decorative high gloss macassar ebony panel at the back. This is a working island where small bar sink and faucet allow this surface to be used as an additional preparation surface. The bigger island has an overhang for 4 counter stools and in housing the beverage/wine fridge and book shelf which finishes of the end of the island Two big pendant lights are finishing the look of the big island.
