Renovating the master bath involved removing the large jaccuzzi tube and designing a free standing white porcelain tub. The back drop of the wall behind the tub are two blue cobalt slabs of porcelain book-matched to create striking art to contrast the white tile and components of this bathroom.

The project involved renovating the Kitchen, the only room untouched by a prior remodel of the home. The Clients asked us to impart the space with a classical, traditional flare, and to fill it with natural light. They also asked us to make it warm and welcoming, and light in color but not stark. To accomplish the Clients’ goals we designed cabinets with simple but elegant detailing in a combination of off-white glazing and natural dark stain; a coffered ceiling with leaded glass panels over the island which allow the kitchen to be bathed in natural light from skylights above; and a rich fusion of natural slate flooring and granite and wood countertops. The Gray Apartment involves a series of micro projects to upgrade and remodel a two bedroom, two bathroom loft space in Brooklyn. This compact guest bathroom required a gut renovation, including structural repairs to the existing flooring. The layout was reconfigured by moving the entry door, toilet and vanity sink. The original drop ceiling was raised and a light cove added over the new vanity area to provide a better proportioned space. Within the limited footprint of the existing bathroom, it was important to make the most efficient use of space. A new wall hung toilet frees up floor area, while the vanity drawer unit and flush medicine cabinet add functional storage. Driftwood marble is used for the vanity countertop and flooring, with white ceramic tile in the shower, gloss white cabinetry and painted plaster wall and ceiling surfaces elsewhere. www.archphoto.com

The footprint of the bathroom stayed the same but with our help the room has been transformed. The client is a business professional who did not have a lot of time so she did not want to be involved in the project. We presented an overall plan and selected all of the materials for the room. The one thing that was required by the client was a nice tub. We gutted the whole bathroom, redesigned the vanity with built in storage towers, created an open shower area, and put in a large free standing tub. We selected the tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, mirror, custom window treatments, and art work. The end result was a glamorous bathroom with a dramatic counter top and vanity area. This space is not only beautiful but fully functional for all the client needs.

Middlefork was retained to update and revitalize this North Shore home to a family of six. The primary goal of this project was to update and expand the home's small, eat-in kitchen. The existing space was gutted and a 1,500-square-foot addition was built to house a gourmet kitchen, connected breakfast room, fireside seating, butler's pantry, and a small office. The family desired nice, timeless spaces that were also durable and family-friendly. As such, great consideration was given to the interior finishes. The 10' kitchen island, for instance, is a solid slab of white velvet quartzite, selected for its ability to withstand mustard, ketchup and finger-paint. There are shorter, walnut extensions off either end of the island that support the children's involvement in meal preparation and crafts. Low-maintenance Atlantic Blue Stone was selected for the perimeter counters. The scope of this phase grew to include re-trimming the front façade and entry to emphasize the Georgian detailing of the home. In addition, the balance of the first floor was gutted; existing plumbing and electrical systems were updated; all windows were replaced; two powder rooms were updated; a low-voltage distribution system for HDTV and audio was added; and, the interior of the home was re-trimmed. At this beautiful LEICHT Westchester project, The original design was traditional, with a layout involving many angled corners. The goal was to streamline the design and create a modern and more functional space. We accomplished this first by squaring off all corners, rotating the island and enlarging the main window to add more sunlight and visual balance.
