Inspiration for a transitional dark wood floor enclosed dining room remodel in DC Metro with black walls

On this project, Gallery KBNY undertook one of our biggest home renovations to date. The project was a complete overhaul and gut renovation of a Brooklyn brownstone, standing four-stories in the heart of Bed-Stuy, that involved touching every square inch of the entire space. The owner of this property, a real estate developer who was looking for an all-inclusive firm to handle the entire process, hired Gallery and tasked us with creating an owner’s quadplex with a separate garden studio apartment as a rental unit.

This custom craft room boasts plenty of open storage to put tools and materials within reach, plus a large work surface.

This Project involved the addition of almost 1200 square feet of patio and patway space around this beautiful home near Grand in Des Moines, IA. Our designer met with the client and came up with a plan to use overstock pavers for the design. It was a risk on the clients part, given that we couldn't guarantee a specific set design or pattern, but we are thankful she put her trust in us to create a beautiful design for her outdoor living space!

Inspiration for a coastal entryway remodel in Charleston

With the original, unfinished laundry room located in the enclosed porch with plywood subflooring and bare shiplap on the walls, our client was ready for a change. To create a functional size laundry/utility room, Blackline Renovations repurposed part of the enclosed porch and slightly expanded into the original kitchen footprint. With a small space to work with, form and function was paramount. Blackline Renovations’ creative solution involved carefully designing an efficient layout with accessible storage. The laundry room was thus designed with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and a stacked washer/dryer to provide enough space for a folding station and drying area. The lower cabinet beneath the drying area was even customized to conceal and store a cat litter box. Every square inch was wisely utilized to maximize this small space.

Middlefork was retained to update and revitalize this North Shore home to a family of six. The primary goal of this project was to update and expand the home's small, eat-in kitchen. The existing space was gutted and a 1,500-square-foot addition was built to house a gourmet kitchen, connected breakfast room, fireside seating, butler's pantry, and a small office. The family desired nice, timeless spaces that were also durable and family-friendly. As such, great consideration was given to the interior finishes. The 10' kitchen island, for instance, is a solid slab of white velvet quartzite, selected for its ability to withstand mustard, ketchup and finger-paint. There are shorter, walnut extensions off either end of the island that support the children's involvement in meal preparation and crafts. Low-maintenance Atlantic Blue Stone was selected for the perimeter counters. The scope of this phase grew to include re-trimming the front façade and entry to emphasize the Georgian detailing of the home. In addition, the balance of the first floor was gutted; existing plumbing and electrical systems were updated; all windows were replaced; two powder rooms were updated; a low-voltage distribution system for HDTV and audio was added; and, the interior of the home was re-trimmed. The Wethersfield home is a “Contributing Structure” within one of Central Austin’s most historic neighborhoods. Thanks to the design vision and engineering of the Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture team, the fine execution and contributions of Tommy Hudson with Hudson Custom Builder, and the commitment of the Owner, the outcome is a very comfortable, healthy and nicely day lit, 1600 square foot home that is expected to have energy consumption bills 50% less than those before, despite being almost 190 square feet larger. A new kitchen was designed for better function and efficiencies. A screened-in porch makes for great outdoor living within a semi-private setting - and without the bugs! Example of a minimalist home design design in San Francisco

This New England home has the essence of a traditional home, yet offers a modern appeal. The home renovation and addition involved moving the kitchen to the addition, leaving the resulting space to become a formal dining and living area. The extension over the garage created an expansive open space on the first floor. The large, cleverly designed space seamlessly integrates the kitchen, a family room, and an eating area. A substantial center island made of soapstone slabs has ample space to accommodate prepping for dinner on one side, and the kids doing their homework on the other. The pull-out drawers at the end contain extra refrigerator and freezer space. Additionally, the glass backsplash tile offers a refreshing luminescence to the area. A custom designed informal dining table fills the space adjacent to the center island. Paint colors in keeping with the overall color scheme were given to the children. Their resulting artwork sits above the family computers. Chalkboard paint covers the wall opposite the kitchen area creating a drawing wall for the kids. Around the corner from this, a reclaimed door from the grandmother's home hangs in the opening to the pantry. This kitchen was part of a whole home remodel we completed in Clearwater in 2017. This was a full design-build project, in which we re-designed the kitchen to make it more open. Part of that involved the removal of a load-bearing wall, which required some strategic planning, but the end result was worth it.

This project was quite involved (and lots of fun). We poured an 8" thick concrete wall; filled in the patio area with 50 tons of gravel; poured a cap in a dark gray integral color, and stamped it with seashell impressions. Then we filled in the patio and step areas with Clay Red integral colored concrete stamped in the Roman Slate pattern, and cut it decoratively into 5' squares. We finished things off by overlaying the wall with a stamped modified mortar to replicate stacked stone.
