A unique 2-level pool-house-pavilion and storage-shed project we built onto a hillside at a client's pool in Loudoun County Va. We built our pavilion part to join seamlessly with the "newly poured" concrete pad surrounding the new pool. Provides a space for entertaining pool-side & getting out of the sun, AND an elegant place for the client to store his farm equipment & tractor & misc equipment on the lower level storage shed side. Built unique cross-buck stable doors for the shed side, and matched the cedar shake gable with an cedar covered awning over the stable doors.

Despite the grand size of the 300-square-foot den and its cathedral ceiling, the room remains cozy and welcoming. The casual living space is a respite from the white walls and trim that illuminate most of the main level. Instead, natural cherry built-in shelving and paneling span the fireplace wall and fill the room with a warm masculine sensibility.
The hearth surround of the gas fireplace exhibits prosperity for detail. The herringbone pattern is constructed of small, tumbled-slate tiles and topped with a simple natural cherry mantel.
There are integrated windows into the design of the fireplace wall. The small, high sidelights are joined by three grand windows that fill most of the room's back wall and offer an inviting view of the backyard. Comfortable twin chairs and a classic-style sofa provide ideal spots to relax, read or enjoy a show on the TV, which is hidden in the corner behind vintage shutters.

Elegant Spanish style in a tactile matt finish. The rich colours of these ceramic tiles were inspired by some of the favourite shades in the Fired Earth paint collection. In shades from cool white to deep blue they have a plush smart feel in a charming rectangle brick form. Great on walls or floors, or both together.

In the large space, we added framing detail to separate the room into a joined, but visually zoned room. This allowed us to have a separate area for the kids games and a space for gathering around the TV during a moving or while watching sports.
We added a large ceiling light to lower the ceiling in the space as well as soffits to give more visual dimension to the room.
A large slip in cabinet tucks under the stairs for easy access to components.
The large interior window and door lead to an upper office area that overlooks the room.

“Compelling.” That’s how one of our judges characterized this stair, which manages to embody both reassuring solidity and airy weightlessness. Architect Mahdad Saniee specified beefy maple treads—each laminated from two boards, to resist twisting and cupping—and supported them at the wall with hidden steel hangers. “We wanted to make them look like they are floating,” he says, “so they sit away from the wall by about half an inch.” The stainless steel rods that seem to pierce the treads’ opposite ends are, in fact, joined by threaded couplings hidden within the thickness of the wood. The result is an assembly whose stiffness underfoot defies expectation, Saniee says. “It feels very solid, much more solid than average stairs.” With the rods working in tension from above and compression below, “it’s very hard for those pieces of wood to move.”
The interplay of wood and steel makes abstract reference to a Steinway concert grand, Saniee notes. “It’s taking elements of a piano and playing with them.” A gently curved soffit in the ceiling reinforces the visual rhyme. The jury admired the effect but was equally impressed with the technical acumen required to achieve it. “The rhythm established by the vertical rods sets up a rigorous discipline that works with the intricacies of stair dimensions,” observed one judge. “That’s really hard to do.”

Hunter's handsome frame and choice of dreamy American walnut veneer or ash veneer are reminiscent of a modern cabin. The wide and low profile adds casual comfort to a good night, with a generous headboard composed of three sections. The low part joins seamlessly at the base of the frame, while the top portion of the extended headboard leans slightly back to collect all angles of comfort towards the center. The extended panels of the headboard are designed specifically for fitting complimentary night stands under its wing, available in matching American walnut, ash veneer, or high gloss white lacquer for an unexpectedly cool contrast. Hunter is part of a four piece bedroom set and is available in King or Queen.
