One would think they need an expansive space to encompass all those wonderful features; however, our designers accomplished this in a backyard that is less than 90’ X 30’. Showcasing the expertise of our design team, we created a concept for our lucky clients that is an excellent utilization of space and encompasses all the items on their wish list! This gorgeous custom pool, spa, outdoor fire pit, and outdoor kitchen looks more like something you’d find at a luxury hotel instead of in your neighbor’s backyard. This amazing home features a backyard patio and pool area with a spectacular custom pool with many features including island which feature sitting areas and fire pit a spa as well as incredible slide which goes into the swimming pool. The pool measures roughly 2300 square feet, and has a deep end of 10'0". The spa is raised and has 12 therapy heads. There is LED colored lighting throughout the project. There is a 300 square foot zero depth beach entry into the pool with agitator jets to keep the water moving. There is also a sunshelf within the pool. The lazy river wraps around the sunken island, and the current in the lazy river is propelled by a commercial waterpark quality pumping system. The sunken island has lighting, a fire pit, and a bridge connecting it to the decking area. There is an infinity edge on one edge of the pool. The pool also has an in-floor cleaning system to keep it clean and sanitary. The swimming pool also has the ability to change colors at night utilizing the amazing LED lighting system. The pool and spa exposed aggregate finish is French Gray color. The slide that cascades down the grotto is custom built. The waterfall grotto also provide a thrilling jump off point into the deepest part of the pool. This amazing backyard was designed and built for a home in Bull Valley Illinois.

Well, not this one! When I purchased this floating home from my aunt and uncle, I undertook a huge out-of-state remodel. Up for the challenge, I grabbed my water wings, sketchpad, & measuring tape. It was sink or swim for Patricia Lockwood to finish before the end of 2014. The big reveal for the finished houseboat on Sauvie Island will be in the summer of 2015 - so stay tuned.

‘Curb appeal’ was part of our initial discussion, at the start of this whole house renovation project. This simple white house with green shutters needed a jump-start with new fiber cement siding, coat of paint, windows, extended roof overhangs, roof, side screen porch, front porch and mudroom entrance as well as a family room and kitchen addition at the rear. After many meetings listening and understanding the clients ultimate goals, we created a crisp color palette and simple forms to give this house a solid perch on the hill. Place architecture:design

The homeowners of this California Cottage wanted a beach vibe in their 1700 sq. ft. home. They wanted to make the most of their spaces by widening doorways, adding wood floors throughout the house, and adding a skylight. The result is cozy, casual California living at its best with frequent family dinners and celebrations with friends. The teenage daughter in the family requested a colorful, patterned, ethnic vibe for her bedroom.

This landscape of this transitional dwelling aims to compliment the architecture while providing an outdoor space for high end living and entertainment. The outdoor kitchen, hot tub, tiered gardens, living and dining areas as well as a formal lawn provide ample space for enjoyment year round. Photographs courtesy of The Richards Group.

Inspired by gorgeous girls' bedrooms done in hot pink and turquoise, one mom was frustrated that she was unable to find the sources for her favorite pin. She was determined to give her daughter's room in their new home a sophisticated "big girl" face lift. So, she took things into her own hands and went to work tracking down the items herself. With a little resourcefulness and DIY effort, she and her husband were able to create a girlie, Pinterest-worthy tween bedroom that their daughter absolutely loves!

Finished with western red (knotty) cedar for a rich and wonderful organic look. For the rails we jumped up to 6″ x 6″ post that we put a chamfer edge on, a subtle but beautiful detail. Then we milled the profile for the top and bottom rails. This project included lattice that really dressed this deck up and provided a discrete storage area.
