A country club respite for our busy professional Bostonian clients. Our clients met in college and have been weekending at the Aquidneck Club every summer for the past 20+ years. The condos within the original clubhouse seldom come up for sale and gather a loyalist following. Our clients jumped at the chance to be a part of the club's history for the next generation. Much of the club’s exteriors reflect a quintessential New England shingle style architecture. The internals had succumbed to dated late 90s and early 2000s renovations of inexpensive materials void of craftsmanship. Our client’s aesthetic balances on the scales of hyper minimalism, clean surfaces, and void of visual clutter. Our palette of color, materiality & textures kept to this notion while generating movement through vintage lighting, comfortable upholstery, and Unique Forms of Art. A Full-Scale Design, Renovation, and furnishings project.

Three year old Avery was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer at age two. Her wish through Make a Wish Foundation was to receive a Fairy Garden Playroom for her sister, Maddy and herself. Avery has gone through so very much in her young life and is such a strong, brave little girl. When Make a Wish coordinator, Jenny Hauser contacted Sherri Blum of Jack and Jill Interiors, Inc. to design this very special room for Avery, we jumped on it. Sherri and her assistant, Lisa O’Brien worked for months meticulously planning the space which included a life-like tree, a custom designed reading nook that we now refer to as the “Fairy Fountain”, a dress up corner, play house, tea table complete with tea set, an art station (not seen in the images, as it was back ordered) and a spot for movie viewing. We solicited the extremely talented Patrice Hoban to paint our fairy mural and she really knocked our socks off with the details! She added glitter and gems and the room really came to life with her vision! We thank Cheryl of Sweet Lullaby for designing and donating the sweet curtains and valances, Chris Jones of Kidtropolisbuild.com for designing the Fairy Fountain reading perch, Levels of Discovery for their donation of the tea table and toybox, New Arrivals, Inc for donating the peg hook, and Creative Carpet Design for donating the monogrammed rug. Avery and her family have a long road ahead of them. They will continue treatments at St. Jude Children’s Hospital (to whom Jack and Jill Interiors has donated monthly for about 10 years) and we will continue to love and pray for this wonderful and inspiring family. Built in 1929, this condo on 15th St NW near Logan Circle was originally constructed as a church. Here are some items shown in the photos that you may want to consider for your remodeling project: +The bathroom includes a new 400 pound cast iron tub. As you can see it was quite the effort hauling the tub up a flight of stairs. If you like long hot baths cast iron is the way to go as it's great at retaining heat. +A mounted medicine cabinet with SteroStik speakers on the sides for your bathroom. We were asked to help transform a cluttered, half-finished common area to an organized, multi-functional homework/play/lounge space for this family of six. They were so pleased with the desk setup for the kids, that we created a similar workspace for their office. In the midst of designing these living areas, they had a leak in their kitchen, so we jumped at the opportunity to give them a brand new one. This project was a true collaboration between owner and designer, as it was done completely remotely.

When our clients completed a renovation of their mid-century rancher in North Vancouver's Edgemont Village neighbourhood, their home felt anything but finished. Their traditional furnishings looked dated and tired in the newly updated spaces, so they called on us for help. As a busy professional couple with grown children, our clients were looking for a polished, sophisticated look for their home. We used their collection of artwork as a jumping off point for each room, developing a colour scheme for the main living areas in neutral greys and beiges with a generous dose of rich burnt orange tones. We created interest by layering patterned wallpaper, textured fabrics and a mix of metals and designed several custom pieces including the large library wall unit that defines one end of the living space. We had always admired this early 1900's home, so when the chance to work with the new owners arrived we jumped at it. At the roadside, carefully dismantled and rebuilt dry stone columns and walling set the tone for the elegant property beyond. Large front lawns sculpted with sumptuous curves frame the deep garden beds rich with texture and flower where rhododendron, flowering dogwood, oakleaf hydrangea, goats beard and peony abound. The long narrow backyard uses an arbor to frame the view of the rear sitting area and a stunning iron masked water feature beyond. Plantings cascade over gorgeous dry stone walling while meticulously laid flagstone and rubble stonework are underfoot throughout. A sensual pleasure.

One of A Direct's designers, Ted, partnered up with Anne Surchin, Architect on this Southold, NY kitchen renovation. As you can see, the outcome was just beautiful. We love that this kitchen design gives the customer functional, designated working areas. Instead of focusing on the "kitchen triangle," kitchen designers have been focusing on creating functional work zones. With this kitchen, we've done just that! The "cooking zone" has ample counter top space and is completely separate from the "sink/ washing zone." This allows the chef to be interrupted, while others are getting a jump on dishes. On top of a plethora amount of cabinet storage, and two glass display cabinets, this kitchen truly has it all!
