CTS Remodeling LLC Continues to give this whole home remodel the attention to detail, and vision required to meet the lifestyle of this busy family.

This outdoor media room and kitchen had to meet the needs of a Houston family needing kid space and adult space.
The kids wanted an outdoor audio visual area watch TV and movies. The grownups wanted an outdoor kitchen, bar and grilling area where they could enjoy themselves while watching the kids. And they all wanted a covered patio with places to sit between dips in the pool.
However, the family had very limited space between the back of their house and their pool, and no room for anything in either of the side yards:
Stringent homeowner association rules also required that any home modifications match the existing home's architecture, color and finishing materials. The pitch of the roof also had to be such that it didn't overlap the bottom of the second-story windows above.
So here's what we came up with: A 40-foot-long by 11-foot- deep roof extension off the back of the house (longer than most, but with good engineering specs and design work, we were able to preserve the structural integrity):
At one end of the covered patio below is a 12-foot by 8-foot outdoor living room with a custom audio-visual cabinet. At the other is an L-shaped, 8-foot-square outdoor kitchen island with a built-in commercial-grade RCS grill, a 4-by-8-foot outdoor refrigerator and a outdoor icemaker.
Keeping in line with the existing home's beige siding, white trim and brown accent façade, we helped the homeowner choose appropriate finishing materials: Austin Western limestone (mostly white with beige accents) for the TV cabinet, kitchen island and column supports; Old English travertine (beige) for the countertops) and white, fluted columns.
The Old English travertine countertop has a raised back for a bar with counter seating. The diamond-pattern tile backsplash also features inset fleur de lis accents.
The family is more than pleased with the results - two outdoor rooms with two different functions - all within the same covered outdoor living space!

This family’s basement had become a catch-all space and was sorely underutilized. Although it was spacious, the current layout wasn’t working. The homeowners wanted to transform this space from closed and dreary to open and inviting.
Specific requirements of the design included:
- Opening up the area to create an awesome family hang out space game room for kids and adults
- A bar and eating area
- A theater room that the parents could enjoy without disturbing the kids at night
- An industrial design aesthetic
The transformation of this basement is amazing. Walls were opened to create flow between the game room, eating space and theater rooms. One end of a staircase was closed off, enabling the soundproofing of the theater.
A light neutral palette and gorgeous lighting fixtures make you forget that you are in the basement. Unique materials such as galvanized piping, corrugated metal and cool light fixtures give the space an industrial feel.
Now, this basement functions as the great family hang out space the homeowners envisioned.

Is your closet busting at the seams? Or do you perhaps have no closet at all? Time to consider adding a mudroom to your house. Mudrooms are a popular interior design trend these days, and for good reason - they can house far more than a simple coat closet can. They can serve as a family command center for kids' school flyers and menus, for backpacks and shoes, for art supplies and sports equipment. Some mudrooms contain a laundry area, and some contain a mail station. Some mudrooms serve as a home base for a dog or a cat, with easy to clean, low maintenance building materials. A mudroom may consist of custom built-ins, or may simply be a corner of an existing room with pulled some clever, freestanding furniture, hooks, or shelves to house your most essential mudroom items.
Whatever your storage needs, extensive or streamlined, carving out a mudroom area can keep the whole family more organized. And, being more organized saves you stress and countless hours that would otherwise be spent searching for misplaced items.
While we love to design mudroom niches, a full mudroom interior design allows us to do what we do best here at Down2Earth Interior Design: elevate a space that is primarily driven by pragmatic requirements into a space that is also beautiful to look at and comfortable to occupy. I find myself voluntarily taking phone calls while sitting on the bench of my mudroom, simply because it's a comfortable place to be. My kids do their homework in the mudroom sometimes. My cat loves to curl up on sweatshirts temporarily left on the bench, or cuddle up in boxes on their way out to the recycling bins, just outside the door. Designing a custom mudroom for our family has elevated our lifestyle in so many ways, and I look forward to the opportunity to help make your mudroom design dreams a reality as well.

Artificial grass requires no mowing, watering, or fertilizing. Dog urine won't stain or discolor the artificial grass. Clean ups on artificial grass are easier than on natural grass. If you're tired of re-sodding year after year due to your dogs then consider an artificial grass dog run from PlushGrass. Additionally, your dog(s) won't track dust or mud into the house with an artificial lawn or dog run area.

Full basement finish with the challenge of several odd placed support poles. We added a full bathroom. Added egress window for a bedroom. Coretec flooring and carpet. Custom shower wall tile and a play space underneath the stairs finished for the kids. Who wouldn't want to spend time in this basement? Pool table. Ping pong. Pinball. Big screen TV and entertainment center. Custom framed storage for the poles with a separate custom framed beverage center. Turned out fantastic!

Beauty is what a person admires whether it is in your own house or out on the streets. Glass tiles are one of the best ways to induce beauty in your homes. There are a different variety of glass tiles found, out of which one unique kind is Subway tiles. The name itself is enough to tell the tale of its origin. Initially these glass tiles were used to form arts on subways in order to make them admirable but most of all the eye catching areas of city. They were used to decorate subway systems of New York City. These subway systems were introduced back in 1900s. These tiles are glossy as well as dirt resistant so require less maintenance and this was probably the main reason why architects and designers found it more appealing to be used for the underground spaces of subways.
But nowadays people want everything in their life to be a different shade of trendy and classy. Subway tiles are one of the trendiest things that are recommended by designers. And believe you me, these glass tiles are heaven. I found them beautiful and soothing. My interior designer covered up the walls of my kitchen with these glass tiles and since then the kitchen has become my favorite room.
It does not matter if you design it the way you want or keep it simple, these glass tiles will never lag behind in surprising you with their classy look. Provide any room a border or a whole art with Subway tiles.
With kids in your house things tend to get dirty. Paints are splashed and dirt is brought in but you cannot just stop them from enjoying these best moments of their life. Now can you? No of course not. That would be so unfair. So why not buy Subway tiles and make your life easy? They will give your house a tailored and fashionable look but that’s only one out of many advantages they have. As I already told you that these glass tiles are easy to clean and require less care, so there you go. Problem solved! Invite as many kids as you like in your home now.
Some things are so persistent that they keep coming back in vogue. Among such things Subway tiles are one. As they have been used by designers for years. So it’s time for you to decide a shade of these amazing glass tiles for your home as well.

A Fresh Start – As if the pop of white and light isn’t enough to start your day, this space feels fresh and serene.
You can’t go wrong with white subway tiles in a small bathroom. They are crisp, classic and space-enhancing, and look particularly on trend with grey grout. The biggest advantage of Subway Tile is its low requirement for maintenance and naturally it can withstand decades of use while still maintaining its original appearance, and its popularity isn’t going away.

A 6,000 square foot 2-story new home complex in Milpitas was designed to facilitate the owners’ large business parties and gatherings, to have rooms for the kids to come back to upstairs, and a ground floor master suite with a huge walk-in closet. Several separate structures make up the dwelling: The main house, 3-car garage with carport for overflow parking, and a separate entertainment and recreation building separated by a courtyard from the main house.
The business activities include gatherings in the hundreds of people, so parking was maximized and guests can flow in through a separate gate to party in the courtyard and recreation building. Inside this structure is a wet bar, billiard room, workout gym and home theater. The main house ground floor has formal and informal living rooms, open kitchen and master suite with views and expansive windows in every direction. The house is sited on the crestline of a hill with views of the San Francisco Bay and private golf course below. The indoor-outdoor aspect of the house is further accentuated with outside living and dining areas.
High ceilings and expansive glass walls dissolve the sense of enclosure taking advantage of the site’s openness and privacy. The owner’s suite is downstairs in anticipation of aging-in-place, and upstairs there are three bedrooms and four bathrooms plus a sitting area lounge and casual TV loft area.
The house sits on one acre at the top of a low hill range overlooking Milpitas. The city was very cognizant of the importance of keeping a low profile at this crestline and required extensive story poles and photo evidence of the proper height and siting so as not to be seen from certain selected vantage points.
