The dark wood floors of the kitchen are balanced with white inset shaker cabinets with a light brown polished countertop. The wall cabinets feature glass doors and are topped with tall crown molding. Brass hardware has been used for all the cabinets. For the backsplash, we have used a soft beige. The countertop features a double bowl undermount sink with a gooseneck faucet. The windows feature roman shades in a floral print. A white BlueStar range is topped with a custom hood. Project by Portland interior design studio Jenni Leasia Interior Design. A spacious colonial in the heart of the waterfront community of Greenhaven still had its original 1950s kitchen. A renovation without an addition added space by reconfiguring, and the wall between kitchen and family room was removed to create open flow. The lot was pie shaped and the deepest part of the yard was off at an angle to the back wall of the house. We pushed out to the rear to enlarge the kitchen but angled the corner to allow the windows to look into the deepest part of the yard...So important to consider what you will look at, while standing at the sink and just as importantly, what you will see from the yard as you look back at the house. here you will get the idea that this angle was designed to take full advantage of the shape of the yard... Removing the walls around the Kitchen and DR (and the Living Room!) created an open concept for easy flow. The warmth is maintained with the hardwood floors, natural textures and soothing colors.
