Rustic-Modern Finnish Kitchen Our client was inclined to transform this kitchen into a functional, Finnish inspired space. Finnish interior design can simply be described in 3 words: simplicity, innovation, and functionalism. Finnish design addresses the tough climate, unique nature, and limited sunlight, which inspired designers to create solutions, that would meet the everyday life challenges. The combination of the knotty, blue-gray alder base cabinets combined with the clean white wall cabinets reveal mixing these rustic Finnish touches with the modern. The leaded glass on the upper cabinetry was selected so our client can display their personal collection from Finland. Mixing black modern hardware and fixtures with the handmade, light, and bright backsplash tile make this kitchen a timeless show stopper. This project was done in collaboration with Susan O'Brian from EcoLux Interiors.

Knotty alder combined with stainless steel appliances makes for an elegant rustic look. The custom wood hood add a heightened sense of dimension.

In this kitchen, we updated the exising cabinets with Caesarstone Taj Royal quartz countertop 3cm with small Ogee edge and 2” high backsplash at 2cm thickness. A Moen Camerist Spot Resistant Stainless Faucet and Blanco Performa Sink in Biscuit was installed. A new island was created with Medallion Platinum Madison Door, Knotty Alder Wood with Peppercorn Finish with an open bookcase on the end with Caesarstone Taj Royal quartz countertop.

At the end of the island, two drawers were floated above a pet feeding station. The shallow depth drawers offer the perfect storage solution for leashes, waste bags, and overflow pet storage. On the working side of the island is a microwave drawer, the pullout double trash cans, a prep sink, and a hard working four drawer base.

Integrated sinks were incorporated into this guest bathroom. Additional storage was incorporated in the toilet room. Cultured marble countertops with integrated sinks were used for their durability and cleanability.

This Aurora client wanted to remove large soffits to make the room more open and allow for additional architectural interest. Medium stained Alder cabinets were used to warm up the light granite and hardwood floor selections. A newly designed laundry room and powder room were also included with matching materials to complete the 1st floor update. Designed and photographed by Adam Hartig.
