I am really pleased with the fluidity, posture and scale we achieved with the Forma table, and its likeness to its big sister, the Forma floor lamp.

China Live Market Hall is a contemporary culinary marketplace in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown, combining dining, retail, and culinary education in one immersive environment. The project is organized around openness, transparency, and interaction, with four open kitchens that turn cooking into part of the guest experience and a mix of communal tables, counters, and flexible seating that supports both individual and group dining. The retail market is designed for exploration, with open shelving, stone counters, and product zones organized by ingredient and technique. A material palette of reclaimed Northern Chinese elm, native Shanghai brick, concrete, copper, and hand-printed banners blends traditional Chinese references with a contemporary architectural language, creating a space that feels tactile, layered, and highly connected to the food and culture at its center.

Based on a classical column and inset with a custom designed mosaic, our clients were delighted with our solution to their request for a bar height table to be incorporated within their kitchen island. Custom built light oak cabinets, Jerusalem gold limestone subway tile backsplash, a honeycomb of honey onyx marble tiles behind the range hood, and jupiter crystal granite countertops create a warm visual language that evokes the homeowners' favorite travels. Counter-height red leather and mahogany bar stools surround the glass top pedestal table which integrates with the kitchen's custom center island. For this project, WKD was asked to design a new kitchen in a Boston suburb with custom kitchen cabinets along with new cabinets in the adjacent family room, creating more of a kitchen lounge. They were also asked to find space for a much needed walk-in pantry, reconfigure a home office and create a mudroom. By moving walls and reorienting doors, spaces were reconfigured to provide more storage and a more welcoming atmosphere. While this design is technically a duplex, it has the feeling of two separate houses: both follow the same design language but each frontage is distinct, as opposed to the more common mirror-image duplex design. In turn, this orientation gives each home its own unique floorplan, maximising privacy, ventilation and natural daylight. Upon entering, one is drawn by the light down the long hall to the garden which lights up the ground floor. Your eye is also attracted to the shapes and lines created by the contemporary stairway. Meals with family and friends are a priority for this client and each home has all 4 bedrooms upstairs, with the ground floor dedicated to open-plan living. This unrestricted space further promotes the light and airy atmosphere. The street-corner duplex has at the back a large garage that faces the house and is fully open to the courtyard garden – this space doubles as a substantial undercover entertaining area. The other house also has guests spilling outside, with its alfresco dining verandah and plunge pool. The client came to us looking for a remodeled kitchen and living space for their single-family home. They wanted to create a sleek, modern aesthetic with a touch of bling. Built in the ‘70s, the home sits atop the San Rafael hills, giving it incredible views of the Bay. Our first priority: knock a few walls down to open the living space up to the dramatic landscape. Then, we sourced a kitchen set that made bling feel like an understatement—frameless, umbra Siematic cabinets with golden bronze hardware, matching open glass shelves, mirrored toe kicks, and a glitter backsplash grout. For further impact, we designed an island in a near-inverse color scheme—dark faux marble top, simple white walls, and a metallic border for a floating effect. Above this, we sourced distinctive glossy gold pendants that are hyper-modern but with a retro-influence. Finally, we completed the space by consulting on and sourcing elegant dining furniture that echoed the design language established, including a large white table with a uniquely artful stand.
