“Nestled on Sanctuary” in Chagrin Falls is a masterfully re-imagined 5,000 sq ft residence that elevates everyday living into an experience of curated elegance. The owners, after 18 years in their Mediterranean-style home, partnered with Ovation Interior Design and Otero Signature Homes to embark on a full-scale transformation. The vision: to honor the home’s architectural roots while layering in an airy, modern sensibility and bespoke craftsmanship. At the heart of the remodel, the kitchen and breakfast room were merged into a cohesive hub featuring a sweeping curved porcelain island and a custom integrated banquette—rounded forms which ripple through the design narrative appearing in elegant arched openings, sculptural stair details, and gently curved furnishings. Luxurious materials anchor the palette—2 cm full-height quartz backsplash, a custom pewter-and-brass range hood—while richly textured, approachable finishes and layered lighting bring warmth and welcome. Each space is custom-designed for how the clients live and entertain: bespoke cabinetry tailored to daily use, a dramatic color-washed hearth room, a brass-inlaid dry bar, and a statement egg-blue porcelain shower all create moments of surprise and personal imprint. The upstairs has been styled like a boutique-hotel guest suite, with intimate seating areas and thoughtful details such as Ralph Lauren sconces in the kitchen. The result is a home rooted in rhythm, reflection and refined comfort—luxurious without being austere, opulent yet lived-in.

This bedroom layers warmth, geometry, and tailored millwork to create a refined yet inviting retreat. A custom wood bed with fluted detailing and sculptural paneling anchors the space, introducing depth and craftsmanship. The rich ceiling color envelops the room, adding intimacy and contrast while drawing attention to the architectural detailing above. Graphic wall panels frame the headboard, offering a subtle nod to retro influence while remaining elevated and modern. Set in the rolling hills of Calistoga, this Winery Estate is a quiet escape that balances hospitality with intimacy. Interiors layer warmth and texture—from pendant-lit kitchen spaces to a lounge where mirrors and soft fixtures amplify vineyard views. The dining room offers subtle drama with a sculptural chandelier and layered tablescape, while upstairs bedrooms provide serene, understated accommodations. Outdoors, a shaded pergola and inviting pavilion extend living into the landscape, blending reflection with connection. Even the wine cave entrance is quietly expressive, a nook where contemplation meets conviviality. Layered, calm, and purposefully personal, the estate feels modern yet timeless, welcoming without revealing too much.

This dual-height island features an innovative blend of rich walnut wood and clean white marble in a tiered waterfall design. A built-in beverage cooler and dark lower cabinetry offer sleek functionality, while the surrounding open layout connects seamlessly to a bar area, tufted banquette seating, and lounge space.

Living room - transitional living room idea in Chicago

We love a Ranch-style home. The straightforward design of these homes is familiar and homey. Our client, a retired librarian and avid book and art collector, requested a full overhaul of her primary bedroom. She wanted more color and texture and was ready to jump right into the design process. Together we chose a lovely Farrow & Ball paint color called “Scallop” for the walls (it might be our new favorite color!). The floor was fitted with a custom wool rug in a creamy neutral and then layered with a vintage rug found in an antique shop just outside of Tulsa. All manner of textiles were added, from custom draperies to the plum-colored linen-wrapped bed to layers of pillows. The nightstands are in a dark burl wood with rounded, chunky feet and lots of storage space. We updated the lighting and hung the client’s fabulous and eclectic collection of art (some of it dating back to the 50’s) all around the room. This project truly exemplifies our love of layers, color and texture and mixing some old in with the new.
