A place where we gather to chat, drink wine, do homework, even cook sometimes ... a kitchen. Or, the core of a house - one place that is never avoided by any dweller.
In this modern kitchen, with a farm house twist, I played with textures more than colors. White palette with grey tones are softened by green stools, a sisal rug and Turkish towels. Natural flowers are never a bad idea (daisies hit the spot for me this morning). Textured quartz on the island really made a difference in this space. It bonded the floor and counter top through these organic textures and wave-like ripples. A really interesting way to unify the hard and solid surfaces. The sheepskin completed the farm house look and maybe even gave it a Nordic feel. Welcome!

The existing, builder-grade, kitchen was not functional, as it was poorly lit, much needed storage space was underutilized, and un-safe, as the microwave was hung over the sink, causing the homeowners to hit their heads while working at the sink. Being a unit in an historic building, I was unable to move any of the existing plumbing & electrical, but could add to, as we did with the recessed and under cabinet LED lighting, I moved the microwave to a safe location, off of the counter and next to the refrigerator, and took the cabinetry to the ceiling, gaining an additional 12" of vertical storage along the main wall of the kitchen. Due to a supply vent being on the wall above the refrigerator, we had to get creative in how we brought it through the crown molding build-up, which led to a custom vent cover, that was designed and then fabricated to fit perfectly. This kitchen is packed with details that all came together to create a stunning, yet functional, new kitchen.

Laundry and mud room complete gut renovation. Addition of multi-use zones for improved function. Custom cabinets featuring floating shelf above sink. Custom built bench and outerwear storage across.

This kitchen was filled with unexpected choices for this empty couple. One of which was the bead board door style on the island. In their old kitchen, they disliked a similar bead board effect, but with the right color and design choices throughout, the bead board look wound up being a surprise hit that lends texture and interest to their island cabinets.

Knocking down walls to create this open concept kitchen in Bayport, Minnesota was the perfect floorplan to cater to a modern kitchen with clean lines. We chose custom "Dune" and “Indigo” colored cabinets while mixing and matching slab doors and five-piece shaker door fronts. The minimalist finger pulls almost disappear into the oversized island and perimeter lower cabinet doors and drawers. Mixing and matching the two cabinet styles created an interesting perspective of modern with the warmth of the natural wood. A matching boot bench used the same wood tones as the cabinets. We wanted to carry it one step further by creating custom slat paneling for the ceiling above the island as well as the backdrop and ceiling of the boot bench. This custom millwork by our carpenters was such a fun way to integrate even more of the indigo color. Feminine pale pink walls in “Abalone Shell” were a great way to grow the brown undertones of the cabinets. Cambria countertops with square edges and a beautiful undermount sink with industrial faucet balanced form with function. This remodeled space is now the "wow" when you walk through the front doors. Our clients had a vision of what they wanted and through some fantastic collaboration we were able to hit the mark!

Pairing their love of Mid-Century Modern design and collecting with the enjoyment they get out of entertaining at home, this client’s kitchen remodel in Linda Vista hit all the right notes.
Set atop a hillside with sweeping views of the city below, the first priority in this remodel was to open up the kitchen space to take full advantage of the view and create a seamless transition between the kitchen, dining room, and outdoor living space. A primary wall was removed and a custom peninsula/bar area was created to house the client’s extensive collection of glassware and bar essentials on a sleek shelving unit suspended from the ceiling and wrapped around the base of the peninsula.
Light wood cabinetry with a retro feel was selected and provided the perfect complement to the unique backsplash which extended the entire length of the kitchen, arranged to create a distinct ombre effect that concentrated behind the Wolf range.
Subtle brass fixtures and pulls completed the look while panels on the built in refrigerator created a consistent flow to the cabinetry.
Additionally, a frosted glass sliding door off of the kitchen disguises a dedicated laundry room full of custom finishes. Raised built-in cabinetry houses the washer and dryer to put everything at eye level, while custom sliding shelves that can be hidden when not in use lessen the need for bending and lifting heavy loads of laundry. Other features include built-in laundry sorter and extensive storage.

This kitchen and all its sparkle! The new kitchen is bright, light, modern and ever so functional. The slight chalky finish of the grey island offsets all the new pretty white cabinetry with the porcelain large scale floor tiles. The backsplash ties it all together with its intricate white and grey marble mosaic. Hits of chrome and splashes of blue add interest and fun to this beautiful room.
Your family command centre is a wonderful, personal but yet functional touch.

Our journey with the Capilano Project clients began nearly two years ago when we were brought in on the project by TQ Construction. The clients were looking for authentic marble and natural stone elements throughout their home. They had an earthy and rustic yet eclectic and playful style. We couldn’t resist such an interesting concept and knew wehad to be a part of it.Throughout the home you’ll find materials like marble, Quartzite, copper, brass and wrought iron, concrete style countertops, tiles, and beautiful engineered hardwood providing a warm textured base. We loved working on this project, the clients were so involved and open in the design process providing inspiration and recommendations that really hit themark.
In the kitchen, we kept the millwork design on the back wall as minimal and complimentary as possible. By pairing white painted flat door cabinets, concrete style countertops & backsplash topped off with an accent of dark stained oak on the upper cabinets and range hood, we were
able to achieve the perfect backdrop for the main event…the island! This island packs a punch! Not only aesthetically, but literally…there’s a hidden beverage center in there…with punch! Anyways, this island is equipped with a hammered copper apron front sink, undercabinet microwave drawer, integrated dishwasher, pull-out beverage fridge and freezer below, along with concealed storage under the countertop bar overhang. To say we maximized the space is an understatement. The countertop at the island is natural stone “Fusion Red” quartzite. A showstopper and conversation piece, no doubt. When the clients saw this slab of stone, they knew we had to have it. This stone countertop influenced the entire colour scheme for the kitchen. It features rusty red, orange, greige and blue hues which we carefully incorporated in all
accents throughout the space including the island millwork itself.

A unique take on a modern Floridian style kitchen with a punch of color. The handmade green glass tiles by Trend Group were the driving force in this remodel. We were required to keep the sink and dishwasher in their original location. But we moved the stove from the left of the refrigerator, to the newly expanded island creating an oversized workspace. The clients love to socialize and by moving the stove, allowed for conversations to not be strained when someone is cooking. Our clients originally only fit 2 bar stools at the island. But once we doubled it in size, we were able to fit 4 bar stools and centralize the conversation area in this open concept design. The Cambria Annicca countertop is the piece de resistance adding a lot of flare o the space with its purple and gold detailing, complimenting the green backsplash. ARS fabricators hit a home run with the outstanding job they did on the gorgeous waterfall sides. Besides the kitchen, we also replaced all of the flooring throughout the home.

The cabinets are painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite and we did an extra coat to get them almost black, before applying the top clear wax coat.
The cabinets pulls are matte black from Top Knobs
The cabinets themselves were existing from IKEA.
The backsplash is a white carrera marble 2x2 in a honed finish, which almost sparkles when the sunlight hits.

The transitional style of the interior of this remodeled shingle style home in Connecticut hits all of the right buttons for todays busy family. The sleek white and gray kitchen is the centerpiece of The open concept great room which is the perfect size for large family gatherings, but just cozy enough for a family of four to enjoy every day. The kids have their own space in addition to their small but adequate bedrooms whch have been upgraded with built ins for additional storage. The master suite is luxurious with its marble bath and vaulted ceiling with a sparkling modern light fixture and its in its own wing for additional privacy. There are 2 and a half baths in addition to the master bath, and an exercise room and family room in the finished walk out lower level.

The owners of this beachfront retreat wanted a whole-home remodel. They were looking to revitalize their three-story vacation home with an exterior inspired by Japanese woodcraft and an interior the evokes Scandinavian simplicity. Now, the open kitchen and living room offer an energetic space for the family to congregate while enjoying a 360 degree coastal views.
Built-in bunkbeds for six ensure there’s enough sleeping space for visitors, while the outdoor shower makes it easy for beachgoers to rinse off before hitting the deckside hot tub. It was a joy to help make this vision a reality!

This sleek modern kitchen was made for the Cabinetsmith showroom. Showcasing our Urban High Gloss cabinets with quartz counter tops. Shining bright in the light. Features brushed nickel handles and stainless steel modern in-set appliances. Set against a brick wall this high gloss kitchen really stands out from the crowd as industrial and modern. The undermount sink leaves full counter space to be revered by the viewer. LED lights hit the cabinets high gloss revealing their reflective quality.

The exterior of this townhome is sheathed in sheet metal to give it an industrial vibe. This called for the same approach for the interior. The intimate kitchen was gutted to replace it with industrial, hardworking appliances. An European style refrigerator was installed that was taller but a thinner profile to take up less room and the molding was made wider so that the door could swing open without hitting the wall as it was in the old appliance. An industrial farmhouse sink was selected for its look and function, and the chef pull-down sprayer kitchen faucet gave the kitchen added character.
