That is, a home that has an expansive footprint. This home measures around 100 feet in depth, and that allowed for the most unique feature, a Porte Cochere that leads to a motor court. Porte Cochere's originated in the late 18th and early 19th century in luxury private mansions and public buildings, to allow horse carriages to drop off passengers in all weather conditions, without passengers being exposed to the elements. Blending a modern sensibility with traditional architecture, this garden features a front yard meadow with native grasses (Carex praecracilis) and wildflowers. Poured-in-place concrete pavers in a meandering pattern slow the approach from the sidewalk to the entry. The modest backyard has been maximized for entertaining with outdoor dining and seating areas. Native plants, herbs, and edibles share the back garden beds, and a raised pond brings the garden to life.

A retro 1950’s kitchen featuring green custom colored cabinets with glass door mounts, under cabinet lighting, pull-out drawers, and Lazy Susans. To contrast with the green we added in red window treatments, a toaster oven, and other small red polka dot accessories. A few final touches we made include a retro fridge, retro oven, retro dishwasher, an apron sink, light quartz countertops, a white subway tile backsplash, and retro tile flooring. The new floor plan design for this elegant home made more effective use of the space, accommodating multiple needs into the kitchen. The new layout created an open galley kitchen with a 13 1/2′ Island with seating at each end, a cool-grey custom banquette. Durable Mitered Honed Quartz countertops were selected to contrast the Walnut 2 1/4″ thick wood Counters, and a custom hood crowns the Wolf range. A SubZero refrigerator and wine cooler along with dual Miele dishwashers and speed oven complete the kitchen.
