A glamorous bathroom renovation we completed for this busy client of ours. We were able to turn this outdated bathroom into a trendy master bath that promotes luxury and relaxation. The goal was to keep the space feeling clean and open, so we exchanged the client's oversized jacuzzi tub for a modern freestanding tub and spa-inspired walk-in shower. For a truly lavish experience, we installed custom shelves around the bathtub, offering a perfect place for resting a glass of wine, storing towels, and adding a touch of decor. As for the brand new shower, the classic white subway tile, swinging glass door, and unique window add a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic. A hidden shower niche was installed on the back side of the half-height wall, great for hiding toiletries and keeping the overall look clean. Lastly, we were able to reuse our client's old vanity with minor updates. We freshened up its look with new quartz countertops, custom-fitted mirrors, and stylish hardware. Inspiration for a timeless entryway remodel in Charleston

Photo by Mike Casey Cramped, uncomfortable, and out of date: when the owners of this home approached us about renovating their kitchen and adjoining sunroom, these were high on their list of complaints. OPENING UP THE KITCHEN Our plan kept the kitchen in the same location but took down the walls between both the dining room and the sunroom to create an expansive multi-purpose space with spectacular views to conservation land along the back of the property. We removed the powder room and in its place created a window-lined hallway to the living room—opening up direct access between these two previously disconnected spaces. We then built a new half bath between these two rooms, with a door along the back hallway. The result is a more private powder room that is easier to access than before. Significantly improved cabinetry provides ample storage for both human and canine needs. An island countertop is functional and pleasant, enabling the owners to prep for and clean up from dinner all while enjoying the view of the woods behind their house. CREATING COMFORT We also completely rebuilt the sunroom, thickening the framing to allow for extra insulation and raising the roof to accommodate a higher ceiling and tall windows that let in as much natural light as the skylights they replaced, but much less of the solar gain that had made the room so intolerable in the summer. We improved visual connections between spaces and admitted more natural light by converting the framing of the main stairway from full to half walls. We also insulated the attic and replaced an aging, inefficient central air conditioning system with ductless minisplit heat pumps, which can also be used as supplemental heat. All in all, this was our kind of project: we made the home more attractive, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient—all over the course of a single, well-integrated project.

This is an entry way done by Jonathan Rachman for the project "Antiques in Modern Design". Here Jonathan mixes a contemporary industrial light fixture with a vintage French armchair. We are using a wonderful pair of antique marble griffins as a base for a glass console table. The use of modern photography and the antique pulls the room together to give it a mixed feel of antique, mid century, and modern.

This is a living room done by Shelby de Quesada for the project of "Antiques in the Modern Design". The 19th century Swedish day bed covered in a wonderful silk velvet is situated in front of a vibrant geometric inspired screen. Flanking the screen are a pair of mid century crystal sconces that add warmth to the walls. The mix of patterns in the rug and the screen make the room more interesting and provide an interesting contrast to the elegant day bed.

This room was done by Eugene Anthony for the "Antiques in Modern Design" project. This room is reminiscent of a 19th century Paris apartment with a modern twist. The use of the yellow wall color and the vibrant black and white patterned rug brings this room into the 21st century. Used in this room is an 18th century Italian painted and gilt wood console, possibly Roman. On top of the console are a pair of 19th century French painted finials that once adorned the top of a building. The large flower urn on a pedestal brings additional life into this room and gives it a more classic feel. The sconces offset the abstract paintings, providing a contrast between the classic and the modern. The armchair covered in a bright yellow fabric brings this chair from the 19th century to the present.
