This Piscataway, New Jersey client wanted to alleviate their worries of slipping and falling in the tub & wanted to stay independent in their home. We removed the existing worn outdated tub. We fit to size the walk in tub, removed the old walls, replaced the green board, used designer tile-look water tight, mold resistant panel walls. We replaced the old rusted fixtures, replaced the toilet, sink & floors for an amazing new look. We left the exterior bath walls paint ready as per clients request & used Our Exclusive BathWraps products!

The pool’s Gold Pebble vinyl liner adds pizzaz to the custom vinyl-over-steel walk-in steps. The liner’s interesting textures and earth tones lend the water a pleasing warm aqua colour. To add visual interest, a section of patio beside the steps is replaced with a stepping-stone path created with matching Scandina grey slabs.

This Franklin Park, New Jersey client asked us to convert a bathtub to a walk in shower in their existing tub space & remodel the whole bathroom. We removed the existing tub, we created the shower pan base, also replaced the piping for the new diverter & replaced the fixtures. New greenboard was installed. We relined the walls, added safety grab bars & toiletry shelves, for a fabulous new look!. We used bathwraps products.

Manufactures make many grades of covers, the better the grade the more expensive to cover is. Winter pool covers are manufactured to let the water from the rain drain through. Also, it allows you to put your pump in the middle of the cover and allow the extra water in the pool to come through and get pumped out. Winter covers are manufactured in all mesh or solid rubber with a 24x24 mesh hole in the center to let water drain into the pool. Anchors are installed in the patio about 36 inches away from the swimming pool. The way they are installed is by drilling a hole in the patio, brass anchors are slid through, and the cover is then attached to the anchors. If the patio is not installed correctly, the cover may become loose and it will not be as safe as it should be. The Gappsi way of installation starts with the proper installation of the patio. Four foot wide slabs with reinforced rebar are always installed around the swimming pool to prevent settling of the patio, then the finished paving material is installed over the concrete base. The Gappsi installation of the safety pool cover is then installed over the patio by drilling holes straight through the finished paving material all the way down into the concrete base. A sleeve is installed into the hole about 6 inches into the patio going through the 4 inches of concrete base and further in the ground, and a brass screw pin is then installed into the pipe. By unscrewing the brass screw pin; it comes up above the patio and allows for the cover ring hooks to attach to the brass screw. After this is all done for every strap of the cover, your Gappsi installed pool cover is safe to walk on with no chance of breaking.

Despite looking like it’s a natural pond set within rocks, on the bottom of the pool there are no boulders. We installed a one-piece black rubber liner to contain the pool water, which feels to the feet much like a vinyl pool and is comfortable to swim in. We used a blend of pool and pond materials — a black liner, which reacts with the water to create a stunning pond-like appearance (a 45-mil EPDM pond liner) and Aquascape Inc.'s wide-mouth skimmers and bulkhead fittings to penetrate the liner. www.deckandpatio.com

As you may know, Superior Chimney writes a lot of articles to educate the Chicagoland area on chimneys and how to identify problems. Every once in a while, it is good to go back and review the basics. That’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to discuss what are the components of a chimney. Let’s get started. What are the Components of a Fireplace? We’re going to get started on the actual chimney itself. Most chimneys are built of brick and some are constructed of a wood framed chase with siding on it to match the rest of the home. The traditional masonry fireplace chimneys include (from the inside out) a firebox, where the firewood burns and gas starter are located. Going up is the throat, smoke chamber and then chimney flue. These are the components of a masonry chimney where the exhaust/air travels through - From the firebox and out through the top of the chimney. You can most often ‘see’ your chimney from the ground, you will notice the bricks and on top of that will be the chimney crown (cement slab) which keeps the elements away from the brick chimney. On top of the chimney crown is the chimney cap. This is what keeps animals & debris from entering the chimney flue… raccoons, squirrels, birds, bats, etc… down the flue, and into the firebox. Now that we know what components that a chimney has, let’s focus on a couple of key areas. Fireplace Dampers All chimneys are fitted with a fireplace damper. A fireplace damper is a metal plate that opens and closes, allowing smoke from the fireplace to move up and out of the home. If you have a fire and the fireplace damper is closed, or restrictive, the smoke will back up into your home. The smoke needs a place to go. When the fireplace is not in use, the damper should remain closed in order to keep the cold air out of your home and warm air from escaping your home. Just because you have a fireplace does not mean that you have to deal with cold drafts in the room the fireplace is in. Chimney Flues As we all know, heat rises. The heat from the fireplace is going to rise taking with it the smoke, and other gases. This process is known as drafting. It is important to have good drafting as it prevents the smoke or gases from staying in your home and harming your family. Chimney Flue Liners Flue liners are important to the chimney; they are your firewall. It works to prevent overheating of any combustibles next to the chimney. And, it helps so the chimney construction doesn’t corrode from the byproducts of burning wood, or creosote. There are a few types of flue liners, such as fire clay tiles, heat resistant concrete, and stainless steel.
