Kitchens being at the heart of each home, we have created warmth with wooden cabinets and a wooden floor, combining it with the stainless steel accents of the appliances. A dash of electric blue at the far end accentuates the whole area of this spacious kitchen

Ulrich Designer: Julia Kleyman Photography by Peter Rymwid The design challenge in this kitchen was to combine sleek materials to make the space look modern – in fitting with the overall character of the home – and also to achieve a warm and inviting living space. Some special touches for the homeowners include the peninsula counter top that was dropped down to a more comfortable height for mixing and dough rolling. Above the peninsula a bean-shaped frosted glass snack counter sits on metal posts, creating an eating/snacking area. White porcelain tile with two chrome liners running around the perimeter create a clean backdrop for the focal point of the kitchen, a clear glass hood by Miele. A blue acrylic cabinetry finish gives the space a dash of color, while the cherry finish on the appliances side of the kitchen and on the sitting side of the peninsula makes the kitchen warm and inviting.

This young family wanted a comfortable but sophisticated space to relax, watch TV or read. We went with a neutral color scheme, adding in aqua and coral accents in the pillows and window treatments. Traditional styling with a few industrial elements. Leather sofa, coffee table, wing chair and bookshelf from Restoration Hardware. Rug from Dash and Albert and Chair/ottoman from Ballard in Pindler fabric.

A chic guest bedroom dressed with neutral grays and whites is ready to receive guests anytime. The hotel-like bedding is luxurious, and accents of chartreuse and coral add a dash of excitement with a playful pattern. This project was basically a blank slate for a living/dining room with the ever-challenging sunroom extension of the living room. We bridged the living room into the sunroom with a bench so that it feels open. New furniture throughout, lighting, art some dramatic wallpaper and window treatments tie the first floor together. The hardest working space is in the back of the house though, where we added custom built-in cabinetry by the back door. Instead of matching the white kitchen, we chose to bring in green and a dash of walnut from the other furniture on that level. FUN FACT: The mudroom is multi-functional with two large coat cabinets, shoe storage, a key drop, overflow storage above and a hidden pull out desk. See it in action below.
