The owners of this home, purchased it from an architect, who converted an old factory, in downtown Jersey City, into a house. When the family grew, they needed to either move, or extend this house they love so much. Being that this is a historical-preservation building, the front had to remain 'as is'. Owners hired Fogarty Finger architects to redesign the home and Kuche+Cucina, for the kitchen, closets and the party kitchenette. Pedini cabinets were chosen, for their sleek, minimal look, in both matte glass and matte lacquer, for different textures. The work countertop, was done in durable quartz, while the island and the backsplash are real marble.

APLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. Galvanized troughs used for vegetables in the side yard. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. Designed using Trex Transcend decking in Lava Rock – a rich reddish-black shade with subtle shading and natural shade variations creating distinctive hardwood-like streaking and intense tropical hues and Trex Transcend decking in Tiki Torch – a warm, earthy shade features rich, reddish-brown hardwood streaking, and is designed to off the look of real tropical hardwoods with slight variations of color and streaking.
