Amy envisioned a more modern, refined master bathroom without a full gut renovation. Her goal was to update key features like the shower and vanity area while keeping certain elements that were still in great condition. The remodel focused on refreshing the existing layout while enhancing style and usability. The cabinetry, flooring, toilet, and faucets were preserved, allowing the budget to focus on the areas that would make the biggest impact. An outdated prefabricated shower was replaced with a custom 40" x 59" shower featuring vertical Paloma Denim Long Hex tile. Pearl White Penny Round tile from Bedrosians was used on the floor and niche for added texture and contrast. A new 36” wide x 16” high niche was built for ample storage and a corner bench was added for functionality and comfort. Both were topped with quartz matching the countertop for a cohesive look. The shower was finished with Delta Brilliance Stainless fixtures and enclosed in frameless glass for a spa-like feel. New Calacatta Bellatrix quartz countertops were added over her existing cabinets, along with two Kohler sinks and brushed nickel West Elm mirrors. Vanity lights from Lamps Plus and updated recessed lighting brighten the space, while Sherwin-Williams Ice Cube paint adds a fresh, clean finish. Debbie Slovin This was a long term project that took almost a year to complete. Owners bought a unique Sea Pines home that required some major remodeling. We also added artwork and furniture to complete the modern design. The plexiglass and brass railing was replaced with a sleek wire, metal and wood design. A cumbersome back staircase was removed and a sleek spiral staircase added to the living room. We used the clients existing coffee table, console table and end table from the early sixties and painted them a glossy black. They add a mid-century look to the design. The long hallways on either side of the living room were used to display abstract art.

The lifestyle of living on Lake Washington is naturally inclined towards entertaining and outdoor living. However, the homeowners of this Kirkland residence found that occupying the exterior space was difficult in part because there were few spaces that were protected from the harsh western exposure. They longed for a covered patio and more. for larger gatherings. Durable yet elegant surfaces were required for this high use area. Cabinetry incorporates Parklex wood panels that are sustainably sourced and finished for long-term durability. Countertops and backsplash were comprised of an exterior-grade porcelain slab. Designed By: Sarah Buehlman Marc and Mandy Maister were clients and fans of Cantoni before they purchased this harbor home on Balboa Island. The South African natives originally met designer Sarah Buehlman and Cantoni’s Founder and CEO Michael Wilkov at a storewide sale, and quickly established a relationship as they bought furnishings for their primary residence in Newport Beach. So, when the couple decided to invest in this gorgeous second home, in one of the ritziest enclaves in North America, they sought Sarah’s help in transforming the outdated 1960’s residence into a modern marvel. “It’s now the ultimate beach house,” says Sarah, “and finished in Cantoni from top to bottom—including new custom cabinetry installed throughout.” But let’s back up. This project began when Mandy contacted Sarah in the midst of the remodel process (in December 2010), asking if she could come take a look and help with the overall design. “The plans were being drawn up with an architect, and they opted not to move anything major. Instead, they updated everything—as in the small carpeted staircase that became a gorgeous glass and metal sculpture,” Sarah explains. She took photographs and measurements, and then set to work creating the scaled renderings. “Marc and Mandy were drawn to the One and Only Collection. It features a high-gloss brown and white color scheme which served as inspiration for the project,” says Sarah. Primary pieces in the expansive living area include the Mondrian leather sectional, the Involution sculpture, and a pair of Vladimir Kagan Corkscrew swivel chairs. The Maisters needed a place to house all their electronics but didn’t want a typical entertainment center. The One and Only buffet was actually modified by our skilled shop technicians, in our distribution center, so it could accommodate all the couple’s media equipment. “These artisans are another one of our hidden strengths—in addition to the design tools, inventory and extensive resources we have to get a job done,” adds Sarah. Marc and Mandy also fell in love with the exotic Makassar ebony wood in the Ritz Collection, which Sarah combined in the master bedroom with the Ravenna double chaise to provide an extra place to sit and enjoy the beautiful harbor views. Beyond new furnishings, the Maisters also decided to completely redo their kitchen. And though Marc and Mandy did not have a chance to actually see our kitchen displays, having worked with Sarah over the years, they had immense trust in our commitment to craftsmanship and quality. In fact, they opted for new cabinetry in four bathrooms as well as the laundry room based on our 3D renderings and lacquer samples alone—without ever opening a drawer. “Their trust in my expertise and Cantoni’s reputation were a major deciding factor,” says Sarah. This plush second home, complete with a private boat dock right out back, counts as one of Sarah’s proudest accomplishments. “These long-time clients are great. It began ten years ago when the owners bought their “forever” home. Our first remodeling project created a cozy, comfortable second-floor master bedroom with full bath. Six years ago, we remodeled the basement with a big, warm family room and fireplace, updated laundry and utility room, and a custom wet bar. Read the whole story. Two years ago, we extended the first floor into the backyard and created a large, open kitchen/dining/family space. We removed the existing bath and added a roomy ¾ bath with shower. Two existing first-floor bedrooms were updated as well. The second floor was expanded toward the backyard creating a larger master suite. The remodel features custom dormers and skylights, with a total exterior update. The second floor was also expanded to the side to make room for a totally new full bath. All this work doubled the home's square footage and transformed their house into a comfortable, full featured four-bedroom home.
