This lovely lakeside home needed some updates. A newly remodeled kitchen features a custom-made rolling island and wood look tile floor for easy clean-up. The powder room was also designed to keep messes at bay, with a tile floor and wall. On the home's main level, we created a custom built-in for the television and gave the elevated hearth a new stacked stone exterior.

Custom made StruXure adjustable in black with white louvers on upper deck enclosed with Phantom privacy motorized Screens. This project also features lower walkout. Lower walkout is fully enclosed with Phantom motorized screens for added privacy, wind and bug protection.

A spacious yet welcoming finished lower level is exactly what this family needed. A functional living space featuring a custom designed double sided fire place, and a modernized kitchenette. Also a full bedroom complete with a walk in closet and full bath. Plenty of extra storage space was built into this design, adding a storage closet and custom cabinetry under the T.V. This finished basement is a great example of where design and function work together.

Modern Play Kids Lower Level, this space a full build out. It started with the layout and finish selections and was featured in Abode Magazine for the playful elements, stark contrast of bright colors paired with black and white. This space has something for all ages. A rock climbing wall, glass slider to separate the kids area and adult movie space and layers to make it cohesive. Senior Designer Cori Dyer

Arlene Ladegaard of Design Connection Inc. had already completed many projects in the client’s homes over the years and was excited for the challenge of designing a wine cellar in the unfinished basement. Wine Cellars come in many forms and styles. Our client’s had studied different styles of designs for many years as well as collecting over 1200 bottles of wine in all shapes and sizes. After living in their new Leawood home for a few years it was time to address an update on the lower level and design and build a wine cellar that was perfect for their use.

This lower level space was inspired by Film director, write producer, Quentin Tarantino. Starting with the acoustical panels disguised as posters, with films by Tarantino himself. We included a sepia color tone over the original poster art and used this as a color palate them for the entire common area of this lower level. New premium textured carpeting covers most of the floor, and on the ceiling, we added LED lighting, Madagascar ebony beams, and a two-tone ceiling paint by Sherwin Williams. The media stand houses most of the AV equipment and the remaining is integrated into the walls using architectural speakers to comprise this 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Setup. We included this custom sectional with performance velvet fabric, as well as a new table and leather chairs for family game night. The XL metal prints near the new regulation pool table creates an irresistible ambiance, also to the neighboring reclaimed wood dart board area. The bathroom design include new marble tile flooring and a premium frameless shower glass. The luxury chevron wallpaper gives this space a kiss of sophistication. Finalizing this lounge we included a gym with rubber flooring, fitness rack, row machine as well as custom mural which infuses visual fuel to the owner’s workout. The Everlast speedbag is positioned in the perfect place for those late night or early morning cardio workouts. Lastly, we included Polk Audio architectural ceiling speakers meshed with an SVS micros 3000, 800-Watt subwoofer.

This happily ever after included an unexpected lower level oozing edgy, sexy, mid-century modern glam. We carved the space into seven zones that align with their lifestyle: lounge area, family room, gym, powder room, walk-in pantry, under-the-stair secret play space and unfinished storage.
