The once bare window measuring 6' square is now elegantly dressed in silk and wrought iron. The valance echoes the scrolled iron work on the stairs that lead to the kitchen. This outdoor living space combo provides a spacious sunroom with a Trex composite side deck, enjoying the outdoor life, inside or out. The popular Trex color Gravel Path blended perfectly with the current siding of the home and with the new sunroom. The sunroom was designed to allow the brilliance of the sun to shine through, using Peter Kohler single hung/fixed windows and 60” double out swing doors. Season after season, these homeowners will be able to enjoy the luscious colors of the forest as they watch the sun rise and set from their sunroom.

The master bedroom is original to the oldest part of the house, from the mid 1700s. The original wood mantel of the fireplace and trim is painted gray, while the walls are painted a robin-egg's blue. Wide plank pine flooring was refinished, continuing with the farmhouse style. Eric Roth

This two-level canyon view deck with cable railing uses extra-heavy lumber and connecting hardware to comply with San Diego fire codes in canyon areas. Most of the deck girders and joists are fastened using hangers and straps to create extra headroom between the upper and lower levels. This single family home has an attached studio with rear entrance. The lime colored door adds a touch of fun and whimsy to the otherwise sophisticated modern color palette. In drought-stricken California, playground wood is used in the back yard as a cost-effective, easy maintenance ground cover.

Amanda Borinstein Interior Design was called upon to remodel a kitchen for a couple who cook and entertain frequently. The narrow galley kitchen is made more functional by using pullouts behind every door. The solid walnut lower cabinets match the adjacent living room media cabinet, while the white upper cabinets make it more spacious. Madre Perla quartz make for a luscious, yet practical worktop surface.

Adjacent to the bed is a spacious sitting area perfect for curling up by the fire with a good book at the end of a long day.

Mixing fabrics on upholstered pieces is one of my favorite things to do. Not only do you get a dynamic piece but the possibilities are endless! Here we took a clean neutral tone stripe and used it for the body of this ottoman. For the top, we used a luscious caramel leather. It pulls together the colors in the striped fabric and from the wood piece behind it. It looks tailored, and you don't have to worry about the stripes getting to busy!
