Living room - large traditional formal and enclosed living room idea in New York with gray walls

The mail drop area by the Entry called for an avant garde presentation. Magnolia blossoms in deep red glaze over kilned clay float about the handmade wallpaper above a 19th Century French commode supporting an antique Chinese celadon jar lamp and the tray. Mail delivered on a silver platter. If you have to deal with it, may as well be a glamorous experience!
The horizontal striping in a roman brick layout took inspiration from an Egyptian aesthetic romanticized during the 18th century in the Adam Style. No image can articulate the luxurious hand and appearance of that stunning paper.

Eat-in kitchen - mid-sized craftsman u-shaped vinyl floor eat-in kitchen idea in Other with a drop-in sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, laminate countertops, stainless steel appliances and an island

The front entryway greets you will a bright bubblegum pink, and a quick-access storage bench to take on and off your shoes and coats. The front door features a mail slot and single pane of glass.

this is the unloading and recharging center for the vestibule from the garage to the house. you can sort mail, put electronics on counter to recharge and so you always know where it is, bins above for kids book bags, bench to take your shoes off and store below, and coat hooks for your wrap.

Clopay Avante Collection glass garage doors play a key role in the magical, translucent calm that prevails the newly completed Modern Green Barn.
Inspired by the vernacular potato barns of Long Island’s East End, this unique, energy efficient home is one of the most innovative new designs in the Hamptons. It will receive six third party ratings, including LEED for Homes and National Green Building Standard.
Large open spaces create dramatic views, and light and structure is infused into every space.
As the sun sets, the Kalwall gable ends and ridge skylights shed soft light to the outside and the pilaster lanterns and etched glass Clopay Garage Doors begin to glow.
Every room connects to the outdoors, and the transition between many of the rooms and outdoor spaces is seamless. The abundance of woods on the interior and exterior, and the finishes and warm colors, make it warm and inviting.

Is your closet busting at the seams? Or do you perhaps have no closet at all? Time to consider adding a mudroom to your house. Mudrooms are a popular interior design trend these days, and for good reason - they can house far more than a simple coat closet can. They can serve as a family command center for kids' school flyers and menus, for backpacks and shoes, for art supplies and sports equipment. Some mudrooms contain a laundry area, and some contain a mail station. Some mudrooms serve as a home base for a dog or a cat, with easy to clean, low maintenance building materials. A mudroom may consist of custom built-ins, or may simply be a corner of an existing room with pulled some clever, freestanding furniture, hooks, or shelves to house your most essential mudroom items.

Whatever your storage needs, extensive or streamlined, carving out a mudroom area can keep the whole family more organized. And, being more organized saves you stress and countless hours that would otherwise be spent searching for misplaced items.
While we love to design mudroom niches, a full mudroom interior design allows us to do what we do best here at Down2Earth Interior Design: elevate a space that is primarily driven by pragmatic requirements into a space that is also beautiful to look at and comfortable to occupy. I find myself voluntarily taking phone calls while sitting on the bench of my mudroom, simply because it's a comfortable place to be. My kids do their homework in the mudroom sometimes. My cat loves to curl up on sweatshirts temporarily left on the bench, or cuddle up in boxes on their way out to the recycling bins, just outside the door. Designing a custom mudroom for our family has elevated our lifestyle in so many ways, and I look forward to the opportunity to help make your mudroom design dreams a reality as well.

The refined kitchen palette works with the home’s rich furnishings to highlight the homeowner’s art collection. Rift cut white oak floors run continuously from the main living space into the kitchen, visually connecting it to the rest of the home.
Inside the elegant kitchen, a Caesarstone-lined work area is recessed into a floor-to-ceiling wall of glossy white cabinetry. The Calacatta marble-style quartz wraps the counter, walls and soffit to create a sculptural element which features a sleek range hood, floating shelves, and pot lights.
The quartz surface carries over to the island. Walnut base cabinets add depth and rich wood tone to the space. Hanging above, a cluster of glass globe pendant lights with bronze hardware adds a playful touch to the sophisticated space. The length of the island was designed to ensure use of the prep sink would not splash onto the Globe and Mail during breakfast!
Adjacent to the island, the pantry houses small appliances and glassware, and also screens the dish washing area from the living room.
The north wall with full-height, sliding glass doors extends the interior living space out onto the backyard terrace for barbequing, entertaining and enjoyment of the quiet, trellis enclosed garden.
