The design for this master bedroom uses a layered approach from the accent wall wallcovering and window treatments down to the pop of color on the peacock accent pillows to create a chic and luxurious retreat.

These owners know craftsmanship and appreciate high-quality details. The owner hand crafted some of the furniture pieces included in this remodel, including the master bed frame. To update the home and do justice to the owner’s own furniture pieces, we installed a sky light in the upstairs bedroom hallway to bathe the space in light and added new doors with brass hardware. This modern, colorful master bedroom creates comfort yet a pop of spunk to an otherwise ordinary room. The bright magenta, paired with black was the unique color scheme chosen for this space. A white leather bed with a custom fabric bed bench sits in the middle of this gorgeous space.

A combination of gray and beige, the master bedrooms features a textured silver leaf wallpaper, striped end-bench and chaise lounge, and subtle floral printed bedding. The bedroom is light and refreshing yet sophisticated and timeless. The small touches of gold (through the chandelier lighting) add an extra ounce of intrigue and color. From the beginning, I envisioned creating a clean, white palette for the overall look of the apartment, but I also wanted to create some beautiful, unexpected surprises through blocks of color. On the master bedroom wall behind the bed, I installed a vibrant turquoise green silk wallpaper. The color evokes the green waters of la Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta (Spanish for Large Marsh of Santa Marta) in Colombia, where the black and white Leo Matíz photograph “Pavo Real del Mar” hanging over the bed was taken more than 60 years ago. This transitional canopy bed really makes a statement. The bachelors chests in the two tone finish frame the bed and give it even more presence. The settee at the foot of the bed was designed for my client's dogs to sleep on.

This cozy bedroom has the same beamed, vaulted ceiling as the central gathering area, but it is stained to impart a cozier feel. A sofa is placed at the foot of the bed and faces two plaid club chairs, which creates an inviting sitting area there. The fireplace in the bedroom is elevated for viewing from the bed, as well as from the kitchen, so when you look from the kitchen island into the master, you see the fabulous stonework and fire.
