My client for this project was a builder/ developer. He had purchased a flat two acre parcel with vineyards that was within easy walking distance of downtown St. Helena. He planned to “build for sale” a three bedroom home with a separate one bedroom guest house, a pool and a pool house. He wanted a modern type farmhouse design that opened up to the site and to the views of the hills beyond and to keep as much of the vineyards as possible. The house was designed with a central Great Room consisting of a kitchen area, a dining area, and a living area all under one roof with a central linear cupola to bring natural light into the middle of the room. One approaches the entrance to the home through a small garden with water features on both sides of a path that leads to a covered entry porch and the front door. The entry hall runs the length of the Great Room and serves as both a link to the bedroom wings, the garage, the laundry room and a small study. The entry hall also serves as an art gallery for the future owner. An interstitial space between the entry hall and the Great Room contains a pantry, a wine room, an entry closet, an electrical room and a powder room. A large deep porch on the pool/garden side of the house extends most of the length of the Great Room with a small breakfast Room at one end that opens both to the kitchen and to this porch. The Great Room and porch open up to a swimming pool that is on on axis with the front door. The main house has two wings. One wing contains the master bedroom suite with a walk in closet and a bathroom with soaking tub in a bay window and separate toilet room and shower. The other wing at the opposite end of the househas two children’s bedrooms each with their own bathroom a small play room serving both bedrooms. A rear hallway serves the children’s wing, a Laundry Room and a Study, the garage and a stair to an Au Pair unit above the garage. A separate small one bedroom guest house has a small living room, a kitchen, a toilet room to serve the pool and a small covered porch. The bedroom is ensuite with a full bath. This guest house faces the side of the pool and serves to provide privacy and block views ofthe neighbors to the east. A Pool house at the far end of the pool on the main axis of the house has a covered sitting area with a pizza oven, a bar area and a small bathroom. Vineyards were saved on all sides of the house to help provide a private enclave within the vines. The exterior of the house has simple gable roofs over the major rooms of the house with sloping ceilings and large wooden trusses in the Great Room and plaster sloping ceilings in the bedrooms. "We have remodeled our kitchen previously with Taylor Pro, and we were so delighted we booked Kerry again to do our bathroom. Most major remodels are a few weeks of construction h***, and this was no exception, but Kerry kept the focus on the schedule and the results. The project was planned for 6 weeks and all work (except punch list) was completed in 7. The result is wonderful! This master bathroom was large and awkward, with faux Grecian columns flanking a huge corner tub. He prefers showers; she always bathes. This traditional bath had an outdated appearance and had not worn well over time. The owners sought a more personalized and inviting space with increased functionality. The new design provides a larger shower, free-standing tub, increased storage, a window for the water-closet and a large combined walk-in closet. This contemporary spa-bath offers a dedicated space for each spouse and tremendous storage. The white dimensional tile catches your eye – is it wallpaper or tile? You have to see it to believe! Inspiration for a transitional carpeted closet remodel in DC Metro

Our clients wanted to add on to their 1950's ranch house, but weren't sure whether to go up or out. We convinced them to go out, adding a Primary Suite addition with bathroom, walk-in closet, and spacious Bedroom with vaulted ceiling. To connect the addition with the main house, we provided plenty of light and a built-in bookshelf with detailed pendant at the end of the hall. The clients' style was decidedly peaceful, so we created a wet-room with green glass tile, a door to a small private garden, and a large fir slider door from the bedroom to a spacious deck. We also used Yakisugi siding on the exterior, adding depth and warmth to the addition. Our clients love using the tub while looking out on their private paradise!

This bathroom got a punch of personality with this modern, monochromatic design. Hand molded wall tiles and these playful, porcelain floor tiles add the perfect amount of movement and style to this newly remodeled space. Three projects at once?! Why not? These were some brave customers! We started by gutting the kitchen and the master bathroom at the same time. By the time the master was in working order, we tackled the hall bathroom. A succinct and perfectly timed series of projects. John Noland expertly designed this roomy kitchen to create better flow for cooking and entertaining. He used Fieldstone Bainbridge cabinets in Butterscotch. The new speed oven and wall oven were moved conveniently to the other side of the bar, giving more room for the refrigerator, and a large induction cooktop. The kitchen now had the practicality it was missing. Other features include the natural stone tile floor in a pin wheel design, the large island for seating and storage and all topped by peacock green granite. The homeowners provided a reception at the completion of the project which was much appreciated by all of the contractors working on the job!

Situated along Eagle River, looking across to the mouth of the Ipswich Harbor, this was clearly a little cape house that was married to the sea. The owners were inquiring about adding a simple shed dormer to provide additional exposure to the stunning water view, but they were also interested in what Mathew would design if this beach cottage were his. Inspired by the waves that came ashore mere feet from the little house, Mathew took up a fat marker and sketched a sweeping, S-shape dormer on the waterside of the building. He then described how the dormer would be designed in the shape of an ocean wave. “This way,” he explained, “you will not only be able to see the ocean from your new master bedroom, you’ll also be able to experience that view from a space that actually reflects the spirit of the waves.” Mathew and his team designed the master suite and study using a subtle combination of contemporary and traditional, beach-house elements. The result was a completely unique and one-of-a-kind space inside and out. Transparencies are built into the design via features like gently curved glass that reflects the water and the arched interior window separating the bedroom and bath. On the exterior, the curved dormer on the street side echoes these rounded shapes and lines to create continuity throughout. The sense of movement is accentuated by the continuous, V-groove boarded ceiling that runs from one ocean-shaped dormer through to the opposite side of the house. The bedroom features a cozy sitting area with built in storage and a porthole window to look out onto the rowboats in the harbor. A bathroom and closet were combined into a single room in a modern design that doesn't sacrifice any style or space and provides highly efficient functionality. A striking barn door made of glass with industrial hardware divides the two zones of the master suite. The custom, built-in maple cabinetry of the closets provides a textural counterpoint to the unique glass shower that incorporates sea stones and an ocean wave motif accent tile. With this spectacular design vision, the owners are now able to enjoy their stunning view from a bright and spacious interior that brings the natural elements of the beach into the home. When Bill and Laura came to us for their remodel, they wanted to create a master bathroom oasis. They were able to achieve this with a raised panel from the cabinetry line Holiday Kitchen’s in a traditional cherry finish in the color truffle with Victoria knobs on all doors and Bow pulls on all drawers, Cambria’s Montgomery quartz, Armstrong Alterna 16” x 16” Gray dust flooring, and Moen’s Genta amenities. In the shower the Geschke’s went with Emser’s action advanced tile in a 12” x 24” for their main shower walls, with an accent stripe of Virginia Tile’s Refluence. Other selections that finished their dream look included; Moen’s waterfill 10” diameter rain head shower head, along with Moen’s eco performance handheld shower head.
