Words cannot describe how one feels in this bedroom. Its dreamy, serene, calming, light, bright, airy and pure joy. It has a subtle shimmer and this luxe feeling which really makes you smile. I had to design this bedroom twice and then wait endlessly for the install and delivery and so on so forth… but like they say, alls well that ends well. The oh so famous wallpaper in this shimmering colorway is genius. It takes a specialised eye to see potential and this became our starting point. Bed fabric, nightstands, lighting and beddging all followed this big feature moment. The wallpaper made such a huge difference. We shot the room in the day, but it plays with light at night and changes and is kind of magical. Custom bed in such a unique frame upholstered in an ivory velvet is the perfect pair while the shagreen nightands create a constrast. The beautiful bedding from Frette completes the room.

Beautiful tile on one complete wall, with a glass mosaic on valve wall of shower. Soaking tub at the end of a long day, is a great way to relax. Heated floors, with programmable timer, allow for a cozy floor on a winter morning--Matt Sanford

One trick to making this tiny award winning master bathroom feel bigger is the mirrored wall above the custom vanity. Mirrors work their optical magic by opening up the space and splashing light around the room.

Working around this NYC&G IDA award winning master bathroom's extreme size constraints was an exciting challenge! We transformed a cramped and dated space into a beautiful, classic jewel box bath with the help of our custom designed vanity, the most compact toilet in the world and a couple magical optical illusions.

The Primary bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, dark taupe walls with a matching upholstered headboard, wall to wall ivory loop pile carpet, custom drapery and shades.

The beautiful, old barn on this Topsfield estate was at risk of being demolished. Before approaching Mathew Cummings, the homeowner had met with several architects about the structure, and they had all told her that it needed to be torn down. Thankfully, for the sake of the barn and the owner, Cummings Architects has a long and distinguished history of preserving some of the oldest timber framed homes and barns in the U.S.
Once the homeowner realized that the barn was not only salvageable, but could be transformed into a new living space that was as utilitarian as it was stunning, the design ideas began flowing fast. In the end, the design came together in a way that met all the family’s needs with all the warmth and style you’d expect in such a venerable, old building.
On the ground level of this 200-year old structure, a garage offers ample room for three cars, including one loaded up with kids and groceries. Just off the garage is the mudroom – a large but quaint space with an exposed wood ceiling, custom-built seat with period detailing, and a powder room. The vanity in the powder room features a vanity that was built using salvaged wood and reclaimed bluestone sourced right on the property.
Original, exposed timbers frame an expansive, two-story family room that leads, through classic French doors, to a new deck adjacent to the large, open backyard. On the second floor, salvaged barn doors lead to the master suite which features a bright bedroom and bath as well as a custom walk-in closet with his and hers areas separated by a black walnut island. In the master bath, hand-beaded boards surround a claw-foot tub, the perfect place to relax after a long day.
In addition, the newly restored and renovated barn features a mid-level exercise studio and a children’s playroom that connects to the main house.
From a derelict relic that was slated for demolition to a warmly inviting and beautifully utilitarian living space, this barn has undergone an almost magical transformation to become a beautiful addition and asset to this stately home.

In this bathroom, a neutral palette sets the stage for relaxation and rejuvenation. The shower boasts an accent wall adorned with captivating patterned tiles, while a dark vanity provides a striking contrast. Elegant fixtures add a touch of sophistication to this space.

This fall, Amethyst had the opportunity to partner with Freeman Custom Homes of Kansas City to furnish this 5000 sq ft European Modern designed home for the Artisan Home Tour 2020!
Every square inch of this home was magical -- from the secret staircase in the master bath leading to a private shuttered plunge pool to the vaulted kitchen with sky high mushroom colored cabinetry and handmade zellige tile.
We met the builders during the cabinetry phase and watching their final, thoughtful design details evolve was such full of over-the-top surprises like the unique valet-like storage in the entry and limestone fireplace!
As soon as we saw their vision for the home, we knew our furnishings would be a great match as our design style celebrates handmade rugs, artisan handmade custom seating, old-meets-new art, and let's be honest -- we love to go big! They trusted us to do our thing on the entire main level and we enjoyed every minute.
The load in took 3 full trucks and fortunately for us -- the homeowners fell in love with several pieces so our uninstall trip was significantly lighter. I think we were all a little emotional leaving this masterpiece but sooooo happy for the owners and just hoping we get invited to a Christmas party...
Here are some of the highlights -- 90% of the furnishings and rugs were from our shop and we filled in the gaps with some extra special pieces!

A Spark fireplace is featured across from the bed. Spark's description of this gorgeous feature is better than anything I could ever write: "Magically transform any wall into a decorative niche with this wall mounted gas fireplace that hangs effortlessly, like a work of fine art. A minimalist’s dream, its reflective porcelain interior amplifies the flame’s beauty to create depth." Now that's a fireplace built for a master suite!

A clean and elegant design made of natural White Oak veneer and glaze finish.
We can’t overlook the fresh and cheerful touch that "Seven Magic Mountains" brings to this space. A beautiful multicolored piece of art that is the center of this room. It's all about the right combinations!

The artwork has yet to be selected, so I used the magic of photo software to add a lovely piece by Claude Monet.
